I gotta be honest but this doesn't feel like Terminator... The art direction/style looks just like Bionic Commando with its saturated colors and lighting. When I think of Terminator I think of cold blueish steel...I think of darkness and creepy atmosphere. This just doesn't draw me in at all, it looks very generic. The gameplay as well doesn't seem to bring anything really new to the table. Then the under 4 hours of gameplay for $60.... *slowly backs away*

So true... I'll save my 60$ for Bionic Commando, sorry grin.

From what I've played, I don't know what the fuck they're talking about. My best guess is giant whiny babies are writing the reviews.

    The games a fucking blast.

Sorry but you had way too high expectations for Terminator then. It's a movie tie-in licensed to make a few bucks, to a very recently created studio with a barely decent game under their belt. Of course it would end up that way, that was the writing on the wall...

Giant Bomb loved it. The shooting sucks ass (the guns are all low ammo pea shooters, in their words) but swinging around and grappling people to death is apparently great.

I wouldn't totally disagree with regards to the weapons, but I wouldn't say it sucks ass. Using the guns is obviously very secondary to the game, and I have to say it's really only your starting Pistol that feels weak, and I still find it fun to pop off at guys.

From what I can tell it seems a lot of reviewers are hung up on the difficulty and linearity which is just fucking stupid. I think they're ignoring how well the game has taken an old NES side scroller and translated it to a modern platformer while still retaining the sensibility of those old games, and at the same time not coming off as archaic. I guess if you have to die more than once or twice to advance the game is automatically pegged as 'frustrating' or 'clumsy' when the real reason is probably your gaming balls dropped off a long time ago without you noticing.

I'm somewhere near half way through it, and no fucking way is this thing anything near a 6.0.

So what? If they want my $60 then I want a real Terminator! I don't think the average customer gives a shit when the studio was opened.

The average customer doesn't give a shit and history shows they're more than willing to pay for shovelware and shitty games while remaining totally uninformed about what they're buying. The day they stop is the day this kinda product no longer exists, not the other way around.

As for us who are definitely in the know and should absolutely know better, you simply should expect this kinda thing for a game done this way and with this type of studio. I don't know that I should view the product of any studio differently than the studio itself, and for the exact same reason I wouldn't work in a studio like this I certainly wouldn't buy their product until they've proven they're better than my own expectations.

    Oh boy a few points...

    1) Weren't T1-3 all Rated R in the US? Isn't T-Salvation PG-13? That alone speaks volumes, sorta.

    2) Yes, as stated above, where is my frakin blue tint?

    3) 1 and 2 above plus lack of the Governator point to an obvious franchise reboot. This ain't your dad's terminator.

    4) Giant monster robot things for the Transformers Generation. sigh...

    5) Isn't this the film where Christian Bale went wacko on set?

Hope that doesn't f****** reflect on the f****** film. Give me a f****** answer someone? For f***s sake! What the f*** is going on this f****** site? Why was he so f****** mad? Was he worried it wouldn't f****** do well? Was he thinking "I'm no f****** Arnold?

    6) Finally, and most important, the cuts in the gameplay footage were all 2 to 5 seconds or so. While not terrible, I think gameplay trailers should have at least one cut of 15 to twenty seconds of something excellent that gives you a proxy for a "minute in the life" of a game. Many bad games can string together several 2 to 5 second shots of something interesting, but I find the really best games can show 15 seconds or more of uninterrupted footage and still seem excellent all the way through the cut. Just something i've been noticing...

    I lolled.

Didn't like the overall look of this from the start, just didn't feel like Terminator then and doesn't now either, don't think I'm gonna bother.

I've always thought Terminator would fit well for a game like RE3 or Clock Tower. The Terminators play good "Impossible, impervious, unbeatable enemies". Imagine that with a next gen engine that lets you do stuff like blow up walls and ceilings to create rubble blocking the robot's path from chasing you, and Like a horror puzzle game!

I know that this game doesn't look like something to be proud of but i actualy am. All the levels, gameplay, cutscenes aswell as large parts of the assets and sounds were created within only 3 months due to heavy delays at the end of last year and only 3 weeks of them were crunch. The game doesn't let Grin shine as a developer of quality software but if you know the backstory then it tells a lot about the fantastic team of artists and designers in Stockholm/Gothenburg and the amazing capabilities of the Diesel Engine in terms of workflow and speed. I can't think of any other engine where pulling such a stunt would have been possible.

I really hope tho that Grin learned its lesson and stays away from such movie games. They are quite harmfull for the reputation and don't make sense financially imo. Grin should just stick with high quality stuff like the Bionic Commandos and then things will get better again in the future.

Also if you are still undecided if you want to spent your money on the game this review should help your decission:

What Grin really needs to do is stop jumping publishers and develop some original IPs.
