    Hi,

I'm writing to you regarding Martin aka Meatwad/MrH2o. I'm his girlfriend Carina.

I have some really sad news regarding Martin. He passed away last saturday.

On saturday morning the 4:th april his heart stopped beating and despite all that was done, he couldn't be saved.

Me, and his family is heartbroken and is missing him deeply...

I don't know how well you knew each other but I knew he had friends all around the world.

The funeral will be the 30 april here in Varberg, Sweden.

I wanted to let you know.

Please write back and if you want you can add me to your Msn and contact me if there is anything you want to know or talk about.

    Regards

    Carina

Jesus christ. H2o was awesome, I spoke to him a lot. It's completely shocking he's died out of the blue like this — I have nothing more to add other than my deepest sympathy for his friends and family.

I'm not sure how to react to this. He was always known as a good person with a good sense of humour. Many of us knew him for so long. This is really sad news.

    We'll miss you Watah

What the...? This is quite sad... watah was one of the coolest guys in the irc channel and one of the first mapcorians I have ever talked to. He also helped me quite a bit when I made that snow-war map. This is really sad, he had an entire life ahead. Rest in Peace Martin, you will be missed

H2o (or watah! as lots of people often called him back in teh day) was an awesome guy, played with him co-op on Gears of war for hours when it first come out, and countless hours of chatting in IRC. Really can't believe this is true, deepest condolences to his family and friends

I don't know if any of you remember me, but my name is Stephen Murray (the_s-man), former Manager/Owner of Citizen-132, HL2Central, GameCentral. Thank you to Cyberjunkie for getting in touch to let me know about this. Martin was a valued member of our community years ago when I was involved and his untimely death is another on the list of young people I've lost this year and has me deeply saddened. He was always ready with a joke to lighten the drama we had going on, especially in the late months of Citizen-132, and I always appreciated his making light of those serious situations. He will be truly missed.

I hope everyone is doing well,

    -Stephen Murray

I'm really at a loss for words here...

To have someone die at such a young age is the saddest thing in the world - let alone a guy we all loved and cared for so much. I still really can't believe the news.

A lot of you guys probably knew him better than I did, but I just know what great a person he was and how much he did for this community. It saddens me a great deal to see such a good man pass away before his time.

I remember him from when I joined the IRC channel way back in what must have probably been 2001 or 2002. I remember from back then that it was especially hard as a newbie to get into the cool people's club. This didn't change the fact, however, that Martin was one of the names I remember for lighting up the entire channel and actually greeting me back then and helped me feel welcome in a channel loaded with sarcasm. While everyone dwindled in activity as their lives grew more important, Watah included, I still remember him from spreading his infectious humour on the channel every now and then.

I don't really remember a lot from my initial time on Mapcore, but the things I do remember was his name and his humour, and of course the rest of the cool bunch of people that frequented the channel at the time. I remember when I came back in around 2006, I was a bit sad to see so many of the old members gone inactive, but MrH2o was still on the member list.

I cherish the times I got a chance to play some games with this guy on xbox live or over steam.

I was never really a forum person, but it's my understanding that he was just as active here as he was on IRC, if not more later on.

I guess what I'm trying to say really, is that eventhough I might not have been the person closest to him, he has most definitely left a deep impression on me in the best way. And I share your grief when I hear that he has passed away. Bottomline is he was a very helpful guy, and fun to be around.

    You have my condolences
