As many of you know by now, I'm currently working on this new game, and I'm hoping to get some good feedback from the Core regarding the experience they had with the first, and where they may see the second headed. I can't go into details about the game for now, so you'll just have to be patient a little more.

We did just release our teaser trailer, which you can view on Gametrailers as part of their new (really cool) Pop-Block feature:

    So have at it

my biggest gripe with the first was the amount small tasks you had to do prior to each assassination. i appreciate that the game took a new way of completing assassination "missions" where you had to do more stealth in a relatively more friendly environment (compared to e.g. splinter cell), but honestly those missions weren't fun. i would like to see more puzzle and stealth puzzled based missions before the main assassination. i imagine that the combat will also expand to modern weaponry and i'm hoping to see some ways to "counter" ranged opponents, just like you could counter melee opponents in the first game.

as for the trailer itself, it really bugs me with those questions. in my opinion the player has to imagine those questions him or herself just by looking at the trailer. so more subtlety, just enough to let the players know what game it is and let them ask all the questions themselves.

    I seriously cannot wait.

This is exactly my type of stealth game. Fast and dangerous. I loved the first one. Still is one of the best looking games out. The only thing i really thought was missing was a day to night cycle and the crossbow in the beginning cinematic.

    I eagerly await this sequel!

I haven't played much of the first but I really hated the backstory going on. It felt a little pretentious and unneeded. Art wise it's one of the best looking games I've ever seen and the engine is amazing.

I really love the whole idea behind Assassin's Creed, I just think it would be a better game if it was a bit less pretentious =) Just make a more straightforward game and cut the unnecessary backstory!

I agree with mino. I dont think the time dna machine is really needed. If they would of said "You are part of a society of assassins" that would of been good enough... No need for this odd time thing jumping back and forth.

PLEASE BE IN VENICE!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

    Uhmm.

Although I can understand why some people were put off by some of the repetitive tasks of the first AC, then it never really bothered me enough for it to drag the game down. However the thing that did make it a less compelling world to go back to or stay in, was that there were absolutely nothing to do apart from the missions and finding flags/templars. I really hope you're making the world of AC2 a place with more depth and things to explore, be it side missions or just things that makes it feel worthwhile for you to keep playing the game. Especially since AC1 had the most amazing atmosphere I'd seen in a game (until GTA IV), then it felt slightly sad that you had to replay the game to experience anything interesting afterward.

But like I said, if it is indeed Venice, which it seems like everything's pointing towards, then I am super fucking stoked for this game. I guess we'll have to wait until next week though

EDIT: Oh and regarding the Animus, then it made me like the world even more. Even if it is a shallow franchise propeller, then I felt it was done so well and cool in the first AC that I kinda bought into the entire thing even more, not too much unlike something like the DeLorean from BTTF

    - You CAN swim

    - Da Vincis workshop is in the game

    - Locations include Saint Marks Basilica, The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, and the Rialto bridge.

    - The game opens in 1476, Altair is from 1191

    - So you do indeed play as a new ancestor of Altair / Desmond

-You will see the countryside of Tuscany

    - The "Auditore" family is mentioned

    - The main characters name is Ezio Auditore de Firenze

    - He is a nobleman of Florence

    - Big characters are in the game including Machiavelli, Caterina Sofrza, and Lorenzo de Medici

    - YOU DO INDEED GLIDE on Da Vincis flying machine.

    - Game will feature a new notoriety system that governs how enemy soldiers and people will treat you.

    - You can disarm enemies and use their own weapons against them this time.

    - Each weapon has a special move.

    - 16 unique mission types.

    - No more ease dropping or pick pocketing missions.

    - If you get beat up to much you will need to see a street side doctor to regain full strength.

    - Hidden objects (like flags in the first one) are there to uncover but this time if you track them down you will get in-game bonuses that make it worth your time.

    - Items include, flags, statues, and gold coins and more that isnt mentioned.

    - New enemy types with unique attitudes and weaknesses are present in the game. Archers are mentioned, as well as elite enemies, dagger wielders, "Brutish" armored troops with heavy armor and 2 handed swords and axes, and an intelligent halberd enemy will probe hiding places with their weapons if they think you're near by.

    - While hiding in a hay bail you can assassinate people this time, but it may expose your position.

    - You can still climb towers and ride horses

    - The Lorendo de Medici assassination attempt is in the game.

    - There is now a night and day sequence in the game.

    - 240 people are working on this title.

    Awesome!

Does it still have this genetic backstory? Because this is the only reason why AC1 still lies around here unplayed. I gave it a try but the backstory instantly killed the immersion for me.

Doubt that I'll buy it. First one was even more repeative than Far Cry 2

Another reason that there's some pretty high hopes for this sequel. Devs generally learn from their mistakes... or at least they should!

    If the game had the open world oblivion approach, it would have been a better game all around. But because that will not happen these are a few of my opinions;

    Con - Unskipable cut-scenes

Con - Not being able to play the best parts of the missions over again, assassinate.

Con - Not being able to buy or upgrade your own arsenal.

Con - No Swimming ( I see this is being fixed)

    Con - same starting area

Con - Riding fast on a horse attracts guards?? refer to Zero P haha

Con - No side assassin missions

Needs - More reasons to explore the world; bounty's, side quests, better weapons, items to use

Needs - better challenge when fighting other then one/two at a time.

    Needs - better side missions

Needs - ways to counter ranged weapons, or add new ranged weapons

Needs - Inns, Hotels, to buy items, sleep(save) etc, something along those lines could be more interesting.

Needs - More interaction with people in the environments; Side quests, buying and trading, etc

Pro's - I enjoyed seeking out Templar's to assassinate, I just wish it had more of a storyline around it.

Pros - Story was interesting enough to keep me interested all the way through.

Ok, here are answers you can find in the latest issue of GameInformer. Details have been posted online already.

Con - Not being able to buy or upgrade your own arsenal. (AC2 has plenty of options for that)

Con - No Swimming ( I see this is being fixed) (you can swim in AC2)

Con - No side assassin missions (AC2 has a lot more variety in missions, including side missions)

Needs - More reasons to explore the world; bounty's, side quests, better weapons, items to use (Plenty of stuff will cover this)

Needs - better challenge when fighting other then one/two at a time. (Different enemy types will give you a lot more challenge when fighting NPCs)

Needs - ways to counter ranged weapons, or add new ranged weapons (AC2 has a variety of weapons to choose from, and Ezio can wield all of them)
