i showed this map to a couple of people and they thought it was source. just trying to make it clear that is not in the title . this is a map ive been working on for some time. its close to being finished. im still adding more trees, a sunflare effect, a small gaurd station, and trying to liven lighting up a bit (ill need some suggestions in that department). the dimensions of this map take up almost all of hammer 3.5's gridspace (7796x7820x3776). r's are surprisingly low because i scaled the textures (around 1300-). now, enough with the talk. here are the shots:

ill get an overview later on, but its clearly not going to be anything new or really needed. constructive criticism please .

i felt like replicating or trying to collaborate things i saw in yosemite. i went there a couple months ago and seeing lots of the cliffs and things up close led me to want to recreate it in hammer? lol. i might also have this be a new DM map.

    Nice wpoly tmp

I like it, it looks very open and the texture aligment is nice. I'd also change the skybox and the lighting, I personally hate this skybox :/

From like 3 and a half years ago I have a bunch of pictures from when I went to yosemite on this computer. If you want some source material to work from, I can hook you up.

I made some skyboxes, u can get them @ my site ~~

about the lighting, I'd go for an orange'ish look and also add a lot of shadows, they really make the map look better

i cant really add anything brushworkwise into the map brew, but it might help with some details if you send me some of those pics .

grayfox, im not saying that is is source and that im bragging on its looks. what im saying is that some people thought just because of the size itself that it was source. just trying to look out for people who dont really like to look at screenshots.

u have lots of trees and they dont cast shadows, thats what I meant by adding shadows. Just make a null brush or a func_illusionary with opaque settings

Dude, get a better video card, that map looks like hl1

Nice effort... but I dont get why when there is technology to do that in a few minutes.

i started the map a couple months ago before i started school. i kinda crammed in a lot of work in the past week or so and finished it the day before hl2 came out (what great timing). so yea, the timing seemed bad. i started this when only the leaked hammer was available so i just decided to take a break from 'real' mapping and do something fun in hammer 3.5.
