Thank you for your example JeanPaul!

I agree with the fact a post treatment is needed for having a photo very close to ours eyes. Indeed, a camera isn't as powerful as eyes... It doesn't manage to work well strong contrasts, a high range of colors, and so on. On the other side, I understand well someone dislike touching up photos . Once again that's a matter of taste.

Well, I've finally gotten spare time for photographing, so here's a new set:

Could you post the normal exposure for 'Thunderstorm' ?

  • Satyre

That the normal exposure (0EV). This one is not a HDRi or other similar treatment . I've just assembled the two photos and improve contrasts, that' all.

I like the first one a lot, the colors especially, the others have a pretty bland looking sky, but I guess there's not much you can do about that

I really like the thunderstorm. I guess having a bit more sky included could enhance it further but overall, the strongly contrasting colors work really nicely.

    Thanks

I was really lucky to have a such exposure on the vertorama one. The sky was very dark in the background while the hill was lit by a short rift in clouds.

I like both shots a lot, although the composition of the lower one is a bit weird, you have trees with vertical lines and then you have felled trees with diagonal lines leading you out of the picture.

The top and bottom borders on the first one aren't that bad tbh, they accentuate the horizontal flow of the composition.

    Keep up the good work

Niark niark niark Ok, let's go for sunrises...

What do you have against my sunsets/sunrises? ^^ I really love doing photos at dusk or at dawn, colors are the most interesting.

As a matter of fact, my country is a little bit boring now... only uninteresting fields as far as the eye can see... I'm looking forward to the summertime, when fields are colored by bloomy grasses and when trees get their leaves. There, I could do something new

Thank you Dark for nice words

    Well, for you JP:

I totally dig the setup in this picture. Those two dead trees in the foreground really give the picture a direction.

    Oh and: Sunsets ftw \o/

Yes, its horrendous. Your images would be so much better without it.

Give me the normal exposure original raw file for that image and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

I don't think so... but I'm very curious, the raw file has been sent to you. It's not exactly the same shot, but a pretty similar one of the same place from where the image was taken from.

In that way, there's zero assemblage to do.

    Here's my version:

My version. Removed bunch of unnatural colors from trees that HDR did to them (replace color > desaturate weird colors from edges), pumped up some contrast to get unnatural creepy shadows that makes the scene more "movie-like". That's all

Hey, you sent me the overexposed one. Of course I cant make it look as good as yours if the entire image is blown out

Send me the properly exposed one and I will show you want I am talking about!

No buddy, I've sent you the 0EV exposed shot.

I picked up with my camera the shadows brightness to have the best luminosity in the whole HDR picture. And I can avoid so any kind of noise after post processing.

Well, I'm going to upload the 3 shots and then I pass them on to you.

Sorry Seir, but I prefer the HDR one...

On your version, the sky is overexposed and colors are dull

Here's is the no-retouching version (+1EV). You could do the difference between colors of my HDR version and standard colors

    [Blocked Image: http://nsa06.casimages.com/img/2009/03/29/mini_090329074553759073.jpg]

They are almost the same... only shadows and highlights are improved to have a dynamic photo. That said, I admit I saturated colors a little bit in photoshop.
