Soulstorm is 75% off until the 28th. I got it for £4.50 just so I could play the beta now

It's really cool, even almost more slow and static than coh, loving it so far, but i'll need a bit more time to get used to the style of gameplay (and to the universe, i'm not really a fan of warhammer40k even if the carniflex is fucking cool)

My opinion after 2 days of playing:

Not as good as Dawn of War 1

Been umming and ahhing over this one. I really want it to be great but I just have that feeling in the pit of my stomach that I'm going to be disappointed.

Anyone want to give a definitive pros n cons list based on the beta?

It's just Company of Heroes hiding inside Warhammer 40k.

Everything has been scaled down because it's coming out on the 360. Tactical Marines come in 3's, not the standard 10. Devastator squads have to be setup like a sodding machine gun in CoH. Requisition is hilariously bad at the moment. You can't hold any points because you cant build on them. The maps are tiny, all of them. Most of the sync kills are gone. You can't micro. There are barely any units you can upgrade. Vehicles are made out of crackers and... gah. Fucking consoles.

    Pros? It looks pretty.

It's PC-exclusive... you don't have to like it (I haven't played it yet myself to comment one way or the other), but there's no justifiable way to blame it on consoles

To those unsure about Soulstorm: you can get in with a Steam pre-order as well, FYI.

I should really get around to playing DoW, it's installed but I sort of switched off after a tutorial or two.

Since i've played company of heroes with you dux, i'm pretty sure you don't like the game because you are not good at it

I'm good at it actually, I was playing with this French guy. And we all know how the French are in War.

I played the beta and to be honest it was a HUGE dissapointment. It felt like playing a dumbed down Company of Heroes,

but with no building micromanagement, slow gameplay and a HUD that made me want to rage.

DoW 2 was one of the games I was really looking forward to in 2009, not anymore .

Now that pretty much sold it to me CoH was a tremendous game.

Honestly James don't waste your money with this, it's going to be terrible. Biggest disappointment for me, ever. It's not what Warhammer 40k is about and it feels like a total cock slap in the face.

Does the multiplayer have anything else than this what's available (control points, annihilation)?

Also looks like all the maps in this beta are the ones that we are getting in the full game. Nothing else :/
