I read some incredibly hilarious (but 99% true) stuff about german quirks recently. Thought this would be a good read for you too to get prepared for Frankfurt!

Funny blog from a american guy who lives in germany:

The 'Germany Survival Bible' from Spiegel Online:

(especially the Reader Stories are great)

lol - ok I'm on it!

"Your first task in setting up a new life in Germany may be going to the Deutsche Telekom to set up phone and Internet services. When you go to the T-Point you will be met at the door by one or two attractive young employees who will ask you what you would like to do, and after you explain to these friendly people your communication needs, they will tell you to go stand in line behind everyone else. These two people could easily be replaced by a sign that says, “Welcome, please take a number,” but that would triple the amount of employees on duty that actually do something for you, which is unacceptable."

Haha, you know I've worked in retail and was very good at customer service, but the very idea of it fustrates me. If you're right and the customer is wrong telling them so should not be known as unacceptable. Sofar German culture fits mine better than in the UK.

    http://www.spiegel.de/international/0,1 ... 95,00.html

Looks like I'm going to fit in perfectly

For me it was mind boggling that in sweden you actualy take a number in many shops. With that number you have time to look around in the shop, sit down while you wait or do whatever you want. In germany all people will stand in line, get nervous and will start to complain about the shitty shop, the shitty service etc. pretty quickly.

In America we are open and tolerant to the many cultures of the world and demonstrate this by naming our cities after theirs. Here you’ll find Amsterdam, New York, Paris, Texas, as well as Bremen, Alabama. Germany pretty much only has German names like Darmstadt, Mühlheim, Oberpfaffenhofen, Kiel, and so on.

    Great comedy blog!

Only thing you will need to do as preparation is drink 10 of those each day:

Is Applwoi some kind of fruit juice? Seriously, even if I had doubt I'd remember. It's hard enough getting home lol. I'm currently staying right in the middle of Frankfurt. Stone throw away from the big banks.

Äpplwoi = Cider. Its a pretty common alcoholic drink around Frankfurt. Not so much in the rest of germany, we still prefer beer.

Not far away from the banks you say? The frankfurt red light district must be close too then for you.
