    Finished it today, taking about 20 hours of my time overall. I found the game thoroughly enjoyable, and I especially liked the fact that the story was intellectual and covered some interesting themes. The only thing that really annoyed the hell out of me were a) boss battles (especially the one at the TV station. Jesus fuck I raged so goddamn much) and b) god awful facial animations. Seriously, Valve to me are the only studio that make completely convincing facial animations.

    I'm also glad it wasn't a terrible PC port thanks to tutorial videos where the VO references the keyboard and mouse, the ability to change the FOV and quick saves everywhere. AMAZING. Why can't all games have these? The only downer is the fact that for some reason changing the AA to anything less than high causes the game to spout some crap about my display driver being naughty. >_>

    Overall I really enjoyed the game, I'll be playing it through again for sure ...

    I finished it during the weekend.

    The ending did feel a bit rushed, because those raging zombie-enemies were no fun to kill at all. Considering the story and build up then it actually was one of the first times I've played a good fps where killing wasn't fun at all. It actually left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Which I guess is real kudos to the story guys on this game, but sucks ass from a game play perspective.

    Makes perfect sense. Hell, listening to what he's saying, he's obviously aware of the potential issues with doing boss fight for this kind of game, yet managed to fail in everything he's saying they achieved.

    lol, true.

    It's amazing how bad their boss fights are, yet they make a huge fuss out of it.

    You can tell that on paper the bosses had very good ideas, but very badly executed and badly tested.

    There is one thing about DXHR's bossfights I REALLY like: The shit they scatter around the arenas for supplies in case you went into the boss fight weak and pitiful don't despawn after the fight like they do in 99.9% of games with boss fights and items in boss fight arenas. You can focus on killing the boss and restock AFTER. That's great.

    fair point, but they could have had that sort of fail safe and still make it possible for the boss fights to be done in different ways (e.g. stealth way).

    wow. who's idea was it to not only outsource it to a guy who says "i'm a shooter guy" and then follows it with "i don't know anything about the deus ex world", but then to actually implement their offal into the game..

    i guess someone got a nice payoff for setting up that contract.

    I honestly can't understand why it was outsourced at all, as if they weren't capable of making a few decent bosses — I mean I've never heard of something like boss fights being outsourced. And even if it did happen you'd then ask: why fucking them? Some retarded producer or something doing a favour?

    i remember the giant robots in the first deus ex as the de facto "bosses". they were pretty deadly, but you could disable them in a number of ways. i really missed them in this game.

    EDIT: actually he contradicts himself in the very end. "YOU gotta get into their flow". bitch, this is deus ex. i don't get into your flow, you let me pick which flow i want.

    Spasticated. I'd love to know who it was who gave it to these guys. Not grips fault, they were given the stuff and they did it, hardly going to say no really are they? But the boss fights were the same as having a hair in my soup.

    Alright finally played through it, clocked in about 26 hours.

    Storytelling wise I felt like the pacing was off sometimes. They threw a bone at you plotwise, then fed it to you in small chunks even more and then when the big reveal comes it's super apparent. Some gameplay sections in between those chunks are pretty long so that didn't help either :/ It's sort of a nice story and I like the morality in it, but a lot of it is not new and was predictable. So yeah, by the time the cut scenes were thrown at you I couldn't enjoy it as much because it was so obvious.

    Gameplay wise, some dull parts towards the end because you have almost everything unlocked and it becomes a walk in the park. I played stealthy all the way through except for the end with the

    . Some cool things here 'n there, the conversation choices were pretty sweet.

    Might be GOTY for me, it had its flaws but overall was definitely a very good experience.
