I'll probably be hit for this, but Invisible War wasn't terrible. Maybe a little oddly streamlined in places (one ammo type?, less background story info) and suffered from some tech issues (being barely playable on machines that could run Deus Ex, tiny levels with loooong load screen in between) but the game was still good. I don't particularly like the place they took the story, it turned into a slightly more generic seeming sci-fi setting. Ok, after writing this out, there's a lot that could be better, and it wasn't as amazing as Deus Ex, but it certainly wasn't terrible.

Well, there was Deus Ex: IW

A sequel is different. I can always replay DX1 regardless of IW. I can no longer get a copy of Thief 1 that isn't Gold, meaning I can't play the game without playing the Downwind Thieves Guild (which is worse than anything in IW btw). Last time I replayed Thief Gold it took me literally like four hours in that terrible level to find enough loot to meet the max difficulty loot requirements to leave. I could've played through all of Homefront, or Kane and Lynch 2, in the time it took me to play that one giant sewer level.

I actually kinda liked IW. It wasn't nearly as good as DX1, but it was a pretty decent Xbox game in its own right. And IW led to Thief 3, which I could very easily compare favorable to the older Thief games. Thief 3 was really something special.

Game looks awesome. Project Snowblind was one of my favorite shooters (I know, DE1 fans don't like it) so I hope this game can live up to the DE legacy.

The concept of Project Snowblind being anyone's favorite game is completely baffling. It has absolutely nothing that makes it stand out over other games whatsoever except for cyborg not-Tracer Tong.

Yes, interesting analogy. I'm starting to have the feeling that Eidos Montreal took the quote "alternative paths" a little bit too literaly and kind of missed the point. DX1 is slightly more than that...

Ah well, again, it's only one level. We'll see when the game comes out.

If that's what they are chosing to demo then it will likely be like this through out the game.

And yeah what pogo said, very convenient.

I was gonna make some snide remark about an abundance of explosive barrels but then I remembered that Deus Ex 1 was LOADED with explosive and poisonous barrels. So it's consistent!

hp they're not wrong in the way they've done alternate paths. i think it's a major problem that people do not seem to understand that in creating alternative paths you create content for players of a different playstyle. so one of the paths don't suit you. fine, don't take it.

my supervisor at uni back when i did my bachelor thesis had done a ph.d. on exactly this, and honestly it's what gaming needs to do. remove those single path killzone halo shooters and bring on the shooters that cater to different people, not just a single player type.

Your just not thinking like Adam Jenson...

I don't think choices will be too limited, the demo area shown was small, I'm sure (hoping) that with larger maps comes more choices.

There was a couple seconds in there that looks exactly like Hell's Kitchen, the basketball court where you can save a bum from getting robbed by thugs, and go on further down an alley and get access to a hidden entrance to the Smuggler.
