"EA has suspended work on Tiberium effective immediately," said Mariam Sughayer, EA spokesperson. "The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label. A lower quality game is not in the best interest of the consumers and would not succeed in this market."This decision will result in some individuals being released. However, EA will make every effort to place talented people on other projects. Eligible employees will receive severance and outplacement support."

"The quality bar has been raised. Now we need to step up our focus on great design and execution, catching any problems early and correcting them quickly."

Shame they evidently couldn't get an fps Command & Conquer right again. I was weirdly looking forward to it and hoping it'd be quite good, based on the stellar benchmark set by C&C3.

I remember seeing a trailer for that game like 2 years ago? A real shame for the people making it

    But that's the games industry.

A number of inside people commented on it on gamasutra, as to why this failed : http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_i ... tory=20462

    Lot of frustrations vented.

That's some pretty crazy reading. One of them is predictining the complete closure of EA Los Angeles?

Shows how badly things can screw up with poor management.

Woah people ARE venting off, lots of accusations and names dropping. These things are as subjective as they can be, but all posters seem to agree that there are some major structural problems in the way that EA internally develops its games. 1 manager for roughly 3 devs? That isn't just a waste of money, it's counter productive too! Interestingly enough EA Tiburion seems to have similar issues (which might not be as fatal though if all you do is release a new Madden game each year and take your sports car for a ride). I talked to someone who recently left EALA and he told me similar stories. Very tight dev cycles and more than enough suits who keep a watch on your project, because if it doesn't look like it's going to sell more than a million, they pull the plug.

This is how the new management team brokered their own team, and at the same time quietly took Tiberium out back and put it down, so they would not be known as the owners. They got field promoted to captains, then sunk their damaged ship, so they could take their new titles on to a fresh vessel, and killed all the witnesses.

great plot for a movie right there
