You found the Resident Evil scary, but not Silent Hill... Are you sure you didn't get the game labels the wrong way around? Or did you play Silent Hilll on a tiny TV in a well lit room with the sound both mono and quiet? Because RE has zombies falling through windows, SH has the fucking otherworld.

silent hill is really cool and the atmosphere is great, but the monsters are too weak and stupid imo, dunno, they dont help to make the atmosphere more scary.

They do fall over pretty fast on the easier difficulties, but they still have the best monster designs since ever, not many games have a deep-seeded psychological roots behind their monsters. And Pyramid Head really can’t be beaten for the role of best recurring boss monster.

I think I actually screamed 2 or 3 times playing through the haunted mansion in Vampire: Bloodlines. Brace yourselves!

And none of you have mentioned Aliens Vs Predator 2? Without a doubt the scariest game I have ever played. Unlike Doom3 or many other games which are declared 'scary', AVP2 doesn't utilise quick scare tactics. It relies on tension, and builds it perfectly. Every sequence is perfectly timed, and you will fill your pants every 2 minutes.

avp1 was more scary than avp2 imo

avp2 was way too cuddly and nice looking, avp1 was dark and creepy

Why has no one mentioned the Haunted house level in mario 64, I had nightmares about that.

Resident Evil on the gamecube is hella scary if you can stand the gameplay, I nearly shat my pants as I watched a zombie slowly.... well I wont spoil anything incase you havent played it 'yet'. But it was a slow thing, so it wasnt a cheap scare. I stopped playing because I needed to pick up an item but my inventory was full and you cant drop stuff.

Aww you should really complete the REmake; it's too awesome, you just need to manage your inventory better!

Well, doom was kinda creepy when i was a kid, for start. then i found the secrets of iddqd and it became pretty funny

Also, silent hill was creepy when i was playing it in a small room in a empty house during night, then if you played it with your friend during daytime it's just hilarious "hey look at that thing going haha"

Hmm, avp games were a bit frightening too with marine, the sounds are just crazy.

And Unduying, holy shit it's been only a couple of years but it still frightened me out. The house was giving me shivers a lot of goddamn times.

Oh, and then there was this nintendo adventure game called Shadowgate, that one was pretty fucking scary when i was a kid.
