Nah, not me. I'm not gonna claim I've never pirated games but I don't like to. If I want something then I buy it. Spore I just don't really want - plenty of other games out that I'd rather pick up.

Plenty of people care, Hourences. If you check out Spore's Amazon reviews it has over a thousand 1-star ratings from disgruntled fans, precisely because of the DRM.

As I said way earlier, I don't like the idea of DRM because it rarely punishes anyone but the legitimate consumers. However as I also said, the same system was used in BioShock and they removed the limit after less than a month; as such, BioShock's DRM ended up not being much of a big deal at all. I'm hanging on and waiting to see what happens in that respect, because at the moment the 3-install limit hasn't affected me.

Hopefully publishers will learn from the massive backfiring of Spore's DRM, because the huge amount of bad reviews on Amazon and other such sites is surely going to cost them a lot of sales. Sure, most of the reviews are basically malicious and intended to cost EA sales, but it's a very good case of consumer protest in a way that actually carries genuine power.

EA's first response seems to be one of "our DRM ain't going anywhere", sadly, though a slight silver lining is that Red Alert 3 will allow an ultra generous FIVE installs instead of three

Been goofing around with it a bit today, only at the 2nd stage atm. Its pretty good, but I cant imagine wanting to spend that much time with it, the graphics and general atmosphere of it gives me headache D:

I hope that's some elaborate joke, but...

I guess he could be baiting people for the advertising, which amusingly reads "buy spore."

My opinion on Spore is that it is just a terribly designed series of vaguely connected minigames, the first two ones beeing somewhat fun (allthough not strong enough to make the game worth the money in itself). The 3:rd and 4:th minigame are just ridiculously un-complex and generally too easy. The last minigame (space age) has such obviously glaring design flaws when it comes to difficulty scaling that I seriously question Will Wrights competence as a game designer.

What's interesting is that since every minigame (stage) gets worst than the previous one, I started out really enjoying the game, but then it gradually went down hill until it hit rock bottom ^^

I'm also in the 2nd stage at the moment, it's kinda fun developing the creature, but I feel forced to be overly aggressive. I'm a herbivore and decided before playing not to be a destructive asshole this time around, yet the most rewarding way to collect DNA points seems to be to kill other creatures. I had a powerful but mostly defensive creature in mind, something like a flying rhino (lol I know) but it is turning more into raptor-bird kind of thing. Anyway I present to you Urg from planet Lorg:

Oh, Spore has DRM? I really didn't know that. Thanks for pointing out, I was thinking about buying it... :-| Not gonna pirate it though, I'm not stupid and way too lazy In capitalist world, customers kick your ass

    Haha. EA got fucked.

I shall now add that after much playing it's a very average game with awesome tech and design. It's just crappy minigames with tinsel.

Apparently they changed the number of activations from 3 to 5 without telling anyone:

I won't be long until they remove it completely

Yeh the 2nd stage is cool, but then they take it to this pseudo RTS stage which isn't fun to me at all
