Question;how do they stop the player from going out of the map?

In VC and the original GTA3, there was water all around the cities, with an invisible barrier that you couldn't pass. In SA there's a huge desert...so how did they work that out?

You know that bit in The Mummy, where the desert comes alive and forms a huge face? Yeah? That doesn't happen. Instead, I think there's another invisible barrier.

you can fly/swim/boat forever in SA. I tried swimming for about 10-15 minutes (yeah I know its a long ass time, so I think it was probably more 5-7 minutes which sounds more reasonable) thinking that I would be eaten by sharks as the barrier. I saw sharks but was never stopped, so I reloaded my save, got into the Los Santos Airport (which is locked, you just ahve to find teh right wall to jump over), stole a jet, and then few south for about 5 minutes and never once hit a barrier.

I think that it just loads a little section over and over and over so you really hit the end of the world, but it just loads that last part of the map over again.

Yeah, kinda like a tile engine...only generated in real time.

    Pat sucks. Wait, what?

Haha, yeah...I post once every...8 years or so.

And San Andreas is the best PS2 game ever.

The ability to swim in San Andreas has got to be one of the biggest improvements in my opinion. Water has suddenly become your friend rather than your enemy when you're in a heaty car chase, and just driving or jumping into the water suddenly opens a million new solutions.

    So cool~

the feature i like mostest is the ability to climb / jump over fences, on foot chases can seem so much cooler and you can divert through someones back garden

God I want this game. Does the PS2 have keyboard/mouse accessories, so that I don't have to use the controller to steer? I hate that thing.

My CJ started normal, then it was decided to make him an ultra thug with nothing but a track suit and cornrows. He now has a cool hat and stylish threads, no pics however.

Hmm, when I play GTAs (especially SA) I think about those poor souls who wait for the pc version which will be a lot stiffer due to the controls...

maybe it's just me but I think it's perfect on a ps2 controller.

PC contols will allways be better in my opinion. I realy dont get as much controll with console controls

I played GTA3 on my friends PS2, then when it came out on PC I got that and played it, albeit with my PS2 and USB adapter. I did the same thing when Vice City came out.

with the controller you can lean back and not have to worry about being close to the desk/keyboard/mouse area.

Some games are just better with a controller and some are better with keyboard+mouse.

    i.e.

    FPS games with kb+m

games like the Final Fantasy series and fighting games with a controller.

actually, i like to go with the generally safer way

personal preference rather than classing what controls games should have

    I'm not classing...

that's general preference, is it not?

What you need here, is 'IMO' before the 'some games...'

to me it sounded like you were saying thats what they should use, and who gives a damn what people want
