Yeah , some impressions of my new Q3 project.

When it`s finished , it will be a medium sized DM & Tourney map.

The map uses Cellshading , a technic known from XIII.

If you got a name for the map , let me know , i`m outta ideas in that question

    But enough talking , screens:

that big thing in the last pic doesnt match, but i really like the style

you should work more on getting black edges on all your corners to really hit the cellshading style home

    Hehe wow, great job man.

About the Cell-Shaded textures gives the map a really go - go! feeling

I really want to play this map because it's cool.

    And very Advanced Architecture.

It's really nice looking, but OL's right about the last pic been at odds with the rest of the map.

But this map from CJ is the hl-engine , isn`t it?

He had to realize the Cellshading by textures , while in Q3Map2 it`s just a compile parameter to set.

Anyways , i don`t think that both maps have too much in common, except the Cellshading.

    But his map realy rocks!

hmm...while looking at the pic from CJs map a bit longer, i got doubts about this map being a HL-engine work!??

    Is it HL or Q3?

If it is Q3 , he did a realy great job , to give it the good old HL desert feeling!

I'm pretty sure Buzzybots and, y'know, all those games, beat CJ to the idea of cellshading.

the maps in buzzybots were not cellshaded were they?

The last buzzybot version had at least one map which used cellshading but the first versions didn't contain complete cellshaded maps.

On Topic: The map looks really nice. Love the yellow jumppads

As far as I remember, yes, they were cellshaded, defintely not CJ's idea. Like he said, besides Cellshading I really cannot see any similarities in style.

Nice map, looking quite cool, basically my main critisism would be the same thing everyone else has mentioned.

    - Need a more completed cell-shading feel. (some things don't look CS.)

    - The last pic has a metallic, enforcing to pipes or something which looks way too realistic mainly in detail, which is a contrast to the plain cartoony look.

Also besides all these things, "flawless" doesn't mean good really, I think you'd have to add some more interesting things to give it a little spunk or character rather than just relying on cell-shading.

    - Ewok
