its not direct x 9 keeping you back

    its SM 3.0

i take it thats whats causing it?

    or could be SM 2.0

maybe your card is that bad, i dunno.

becuase those graphical functions are unique to dx9. And the functions built into your card are dx8.

hmm i had a 4200ti before i went to my 9800pro and i have to admit things ran better on the 4200ti but thats coz my cpu bottle necks my card

but the 4200ti did a pretty good job of keeping cs:s looking the same as the dx9 cards

you should start a big fuss and try and get everyone to go back to playing the leak, like happens every time a new version of cs comes out.
