If you've ever linked to a YouTube video and thought it'd be nice if you could just include it in the post like an image, now you can. By using the new YouTube tag, you can embed any video on YouTube into your post unless the author specifically prohibits embedding (rare).

All you need to do is get any YouTube URL:

    Code
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ

Identify the ID of the video:

    Code
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v= eu88KIP27lQ

And then wrap that ID in YouTube tags:

    Code
    [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ[/media]

The result will look like this:

    External Content www.youtube.com
Content embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.
Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy.
the URL on YouTube will be a bit more complicated, so just look for the bit immediately after "?v=". For example, it might look something like this:

    Code
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eu88KIP27lQ&eurl=http://forums.mapcore.net/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=11692&p=204463

Similar tags could theoretically be produced for other sites too, although obviously I don't want to go too crazy with this. Feel free to leave suggestions below and I'll consider them once this has been tested for a while.

OK, WeGame is now supported too.

Usage is exceedingly similar, with a regular WeGame URL looking like this:

    Code
    http://www.wegame.com/watch/We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now/

You can see where the unique ID of the video is quite easily:

    Code
    http://www.wegame.com/watch/ We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now /

Which when pasted in looks like this:

    Code
    [wegame]We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now[/wegame]

It's important to ensure you don't accidentally paste in the slashes or it will fail. The end result looks like this:

    [wegame]We_Work_for_GLaDOS_Now[/wegame]

Now Gametrailers joins the party too.

    Here's a Gametrailers URL:

    Code
    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36435.html

    Here's the ID isolated:

    Code
    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/ 36435 .html

    Here's how you'd post it:

    Code
    [gametrailers]36435[/gametrailers]

    And here's the end result:

    [gametrailers]36435[/gametrailers]
