it looks like a "backstage" cloth really.

and the stones in the asphalt are to big.

Yeah, it almost look like you painted the asphalt on a paper with real painting and burned the edges(where the damage is), and then scan it heh. You should also add more visible edges on the sides

That looks very wierd Dann0! How did you manage to get asphalt and ground that unrealistic? It is not like it is ugly or bad crafted, but it just don't look right to me.

It's those dark area's. I suppose they represent wheel tracks? Anyway, they make the road look very bumpy so to say. Only the edges should be like that I think.

I fixed that. I have to admit i had a hard time finding decent photo sources and i'm still far from happy with the ones i'm using. That might be the problem. I'm trying to combine hand painted stuff with some concrete photosources and this is what i ended up with. I still think it's not as bad as everybody is saying it is but i agree it looks weird. Time to get my own sources i guess

Oh and those black tracks have been fixed already

Taking all feedback into account, i have fiddled with my texture. Thanks for the feedback again, people. I'm learning stuff much faster thanks to this and i'm enjoying it

    In the newer version i

-fiddled with the color, contrast of the whole thing

-decreased the opacity of the car tracks

-added an overlay for the sides

    -added cracks near the sides

-deleted small parts of the white stripes in the middle

-decreased the saturation on the base

    -deleted a repeating pattern

Massive improvement, I'd mess with the levels though to make it a bit darker.

I'm gonna wait for a bit more feedback from people but i'm putting it on my list of things i'm gonna try so thanks

I'd agree on levels, but also, the whole part where you added dirt looks good, but the placement doesn't.

The problem is when you tile it like a street, you can see that obvious pattern of it sticking out, i'd make them run all up the side like so:

Pink lines marking the suggestive erosion be:

curman wins. i was just gonna post and say that this will repeat like crazy.

    anyways it loooks pretty good.

if you wanna add tire marks ADD actual tiremarks (set to low opacity and layer them on top of eachother) and dont just darken the lanes to give the IMPRESSION of tire marks.

i like the way you did the painted lines.

    good stuff. post more =)

I know those will tile bad that's why i made 2 versions (see earlier). I'll even out the cracks at the sides some more though.

Oh and klein: i will add actual tiremarks then. i'm not done with this yet

Everyone that gives good feedback (and even takes the time to make pics like that) wins. (so that includes curman, so i agree)

Making textures isnt hard, but making great textures is hard, so everyone who have made texture to this thread is kind a winner

That new version is indeed a huge improvement. Not sure of exactly what that did it, but you lost a good bunch of that wierd look the other one had. The asphalt still looks wierd to me though, at least it don't look like that around here.

well I've seen alot of grass like that, its easy to spot a place with long grass.

but zacker said, you got some fade problems (grass do not fade, it will still be there.

asphalt looks good, but the grass is abit to yellow, try to mix some levels.
