Looks cool D3ads, I dig the style. I agree with synthesizer though, stay away from pure black. In fact I'd flatten the image, double the layer and set the top one to "screen" to brighten it naturaly.
totally random texture thread

Deads can make stuff? What the hell

It isn't pure black, it's probably just your monitors, there's subtle colour in there. Perhaps it's still too dark though, I'll change it. The graffiti and wall are all seperate btw, I just combined everything for the shot.

Yeah, I'm not just here for shits and giggles y'know

-
The graffitis are really well integrated d3, maybe the crackles are still a bit blurry but it's 512² after all, nice work §
It's really dark here though, and it's YOUR monitor, i'm pretty sure of my colors

First, don't make the usage of bevel and emboss obvious since it's clearly been done on that wood and doesn't look nice. I use it a few times but tweak and edit the settings and after the effect to make it look less fake and more fitting.
Second, remove the shadow (I need to do this on my own too) If you want to add some depth between the wood and plaster I'd do it a different way.
Third, the plaster there looks fine however if it were me I'd have the plaster scaled smaller (smaller details) so it doesn't feel so large. For this I think it could work better slightly smaller.
Fourth, the grunge/dirt could do with a lot of work, some just feels floaty instead of actually on the plaster.

the texture is too low on contrast. the colors are too monotone!!
take a look at photos! this reminds me of releasing a german photoset

-
Thanks for the crit guys, I'm still learning how to do things and playing with tools etc in CS3.
@ Hessi, hurry up with the German photo release mate
hehe -
thats cool sly, keep it up! about contrast and coloring, its allways relative to what kind of setting you have ingame, lightning etc.. check it how it works ingame

but give the texture time, and rest a little from it, i know myself its easy to become blind when working on one thing to long.. specially this one because you have alot of red in it, which is cool, imagine working on a green grass texture, you go colorblid in a matter om seconds..

First sci-fi like texture

This is my first real attempt at making a texture. I'm pretty excited with the results however, but I've got a lot of tweaking to do.

I'm not too happy about the concrete portion of the bottom pic.

*for some reason liking the greenish aqua style*
-
It looks like a underwater coral thing behind window.
Looks blue to me.
-
it's a good start. but the texture is too dark and the gaps are plain black and too straight
-
well yeah but it could be a grid...
i'd say that hte gaps maybe were a bit too large, but that's about it.
-
Are these totally by hand? They don't look too good. Use some decent photorefs.
