Yeah well, you can't blame them, they wanna sell more copies, and in general a +18 game never sells as good as teen games.

Shouldn't matter if the game is otherwise great. I'd quite like to see an iD game focused less on gore and more on bringing a rich world to life. The atmosphere in that trailer is awesome. Looks like there's more NPC/non-combat gameplay, and presumably more general exploration to do, which I like.

I have nothing against games that end up being 'Teen' it's just when developers have to start making serious concessions to things they'd otherwise like to have in their game to reach that rating.

The game is more amazing every time I see it. If you are to frame-by-frame through the new extended trailer, you can see tons of awesome details in the characters and in the environments. It's rare to come across a game with this much love put into it.

What id game has excessive levels of gore? Splashing a bit of red around (giant blood spurts, gibbing) is not very damning to a games rating, you typically have to incorporate levels or realism, torture or sadism before the rating folk bump you to adult.

I don't know what the exact criteria are for adult, but a bit of blood and cursing will nail you an M.

Having any kind of dismemberment is all you need to earn an 17/18+ rating.

The environments look amazing but I was a bit dissapointed in some of the characters, they looked plastic sort of.

This is ID, plastic is what they are great at You know, I don't want it to look super realistic, I mean, there are mutated things running about. Stylised for the win. The art direction IMO is stunning sofar, quite a bit of colour without looking like a cartoon, reminds me of Total Recall

while some of it looks stunning, I couldn't help noticing some glitches and plastic looking outdoors as well :S

Yeah Tod said that although there will be racing levels on this game, it will also be an FPS/Shooter. Which is a neat mix if you ask me... And It's a id game guys, it HAS to be good.

Can't wait to mess around with the editor and the new tools they've integrated, seems to be a big step from the previous d3 editor. Any more infos about those screenshots?

This looks like a lot of fun to mess with. Wonder if their level designers are allowed to paint landscapes or if they have dedicated artists only for that. I sure would be pissed if i had this tech on my hand and would only be allowed to place large objects and script gameplay.
