    Hi,

DM-Calibrah for Unreal Tournament 3 has been released. It's a medium sized map for 2 to 4 players.

"The Calibrah-Research-Facility was used by the secretive Phayder corporation for researching and testing the Invulnerability technology, but in the early testing phases, the huge amount of nanoblack caused curious weather anomalies..."

    Mirrors:

    Size: ~50 MB

    http://www.fileplanet.com/188568/180000 ... M-Calibrah [ Fileplanet ]

    http://files.filefront.com/DM+Calibrahz ... einfo.html [ FileFront ]

On the screens now, you can see the "weather anomalies". This is how the map looks normally:

When the Invulnerability-Pickup appears, a storm is approaching and the map looks like this:

Oh hell yeah that's what I'm talking about! I love what you've done, it has a great feed and atmosphere to it. If I had to crit anything, and I do I'd sat that the green is a little, not by a lot, just a fraction overpowering in relation to the other colors in the first 2 images.

Gonna try it out, looks great, though some areas seem abit dark. Probably just on my screen though, since people usually say my own levels are too bright X( You should definately submit this for the best visuals cathegory in phase 2 aswell (if that's possible - should be).

Did you have any problem submitting to the make something unreal contest? I uploaded my map, and it was added to fileplanet with the green text and it was added to the entries page on the contest website. But then they restructured the list and sorted it by cathegory, and suddenly my map wasn't on there anymore

Well, I uploaded 2 Maps, the uploads were successful and the Maps are added to Fileplanet...that was like 10 hours ago and the Maps are still not added to the Entries page...I really hope it wasn't too late, that would be horrible

    Thanks for the comments!

I tried your map, the dark areas I mentioned wherent a problem (atleast not with my gamma setting ^^). You've got nice flow around the map though it's kinda hard orientating sometimes seeing as many areas are very similiar. The plants dominate the graphics of the entire level. It would help orientation if for example half the level was overgrown while the other half only had plants here and there.

There are some problems with bugged vertexlighting on static meshes (they are completely black), especially around the link-gun but in other places aswell. Also I would add some collision volumes to avoid the player getting stuck on the sides of the stone-meshes in the area with the armor and jagged rocks.

Otherwise it's a beatiful and well made level

Holy shit dude!! This looks so awesome!!

Some of the screens looks a bit dark tho, you could have increased the brightness of the screenshots a bit, just for showcasing!

Plus, with all that detail, you could have posted a bit more high-res pics!

Nurb: Hmm, I played it again and couldn't spot any total black meshes. But there are some very dark places around the Link-Gun, so maybe it just seemed like they were black...

Looks great, reminds me of one of the UT2004 maps, the one with the leaves and shit

The storm version looks awfully dark tho, a bit too dark I think

I saw you post this in the UT3 DM contest at 3dbuzz and it made me very sad because I knew I had no chance of winning as soon as I saw it In other words, fantastic work

I only played the level just now. It is really nice, great job!

I really like the atmosphere and feeling of the place, and the attention to detail. Awesome.

What I liked less whas the overal look, it is a bit too monotome. I think it would benefit from raising the brightness and radius of some of the small yellow lamps to create more of a bright-dark composition in lighting, by having the areas near lamps be considerable brighter. It might also help to bump up sunlight brightness to raise the contrast more. The problem is that there are large parts in the level that are just lit by ambientlight and look all the same.

And yes the storm is too dark, but an awesome idea.

If you fix that you got a real winner.

    congratz mr. nurb!

Ehr, not my map dude My map was in the final, but I was pretty confident I wouldn't win. Would be a bit undeserved seeing as it was my first finished map X(
