Sweet, I got in. Thanks people who may or may not have had an influence on this.
Edit: Halfway through the cathedral I got a tutorial popup saying taking damage reduces my life. Srsly?
Finished it last night. It's fun and looks good but it doesn't feel like Diablo to me...
It certainly doesn’t start like Diablo but after playing the last quest through a few times (to max level) and after twinking the shit out of my Sorceress it did start feeling a bit more traditional. The main problem to the feel is the quest structure, and I hope the following acts do not stick to the sequence of: unlock area -> complete quest at a waypoint in front of a locked door -> hand in quest. Contrary to other posts some dungeons floors are randomly generated and the static environments have some random elements.
Character progression has changed to avoid the risk of messing up your character. So you don't allocate stats on level up and will naturally learn all abilities and just decide what ones go on your hotbar. Though this is not true for your followers? They seemed locked forever. I guess I'm kind of for this as I can just max each class once, but being able to shuffle your skills around in town means you can always have the best tools for the job, and pubs are going to complain if you don't pop back to town and get the current FotM options.
The blacksmith is interesting and has a few advantages over the crafting system they included in WoW because of little things like it actually producing items you can use. You just turn a bunch of junk into a bunch of awesome. Your blacksmiths skill being based on the account rather than character is cool too.
Edit: I did write something here about making my Sorc imbalanced at level 2 but I was mistaken – the beta final boss just drops a load of awesome stuff with no level requirement for alts. Blacksmithing is level 7 and up apart from a belt you don’t know by default (I just threw everything in the stash, didn't remember where it all came from).

I thought the Beginning half was awesome, than at the end, I was like "Who the fuck is this girl'?
I never played the old D-games. Really looking forward to D3 though.
Well that explains the big ass hole in the Tristram Cathedral in the beta ![]()
Nice! Just scale up and do a feature length movie already ![]()
I have been playing the beta a couple of hours, but I got a crash since yesterday ![]()
I have to get into these diablo games. I never played them before.
That cinematic was, as always with Blizz, totally awesome!
I don't think Leah is in the older games anyway?
quest added: save cain.
Yup, second quest in the game.
That trailer is so unrealistic. The comet is coming in at like a 50 degree angle, and then the hole in the floor is going straight down. Jeez.
And isn't it obvious that the "devils" are, as usual, russian... (and as such they are clearly wearing the wrong uniforms).
