why don't you just keep playing diablo2 then?
because the story doesn't continue in diablo 2..
The thing with sequals is that most people hate it if the developer changes the game, when what they should be doing is continue the story.

So what if blizzard had made diablo 2 in the diablo 1 engine? I'm sure some hardcore fans would've loved that, but you can't evolve like that and you don't get new players that way.
Blizzard is a company, and companies exist to profit.

Yeah, I suppose the new player is an important factor here. Having basically produced the most enduringly popular game ever created, I think it's fair to say that Blizzard has a good idea of what it needs to do in order to attract the most people, and deliver an experience that will appeal to the most people.
Even if you were to add up every single disgruntled Diablo 1/2 fan complaining about the visuals, I'd bet my left nut that it won't amount to the number of people who will be freshly attracted because it looks reminiscent of their favourite game, World of Warcraft — albeit a bit more grown up. Or perhaps because it simply looks artistically appealing, rather than like every other grimy, grotty, miserable RTS that's come out during the past decade.
Not that I'm saying I necessarily support the new direction, but it's an important point of discussion.

I still think Blizzard will take the fan comments on board and revise the style a bit though, albeit without completely compromising their new vision. Even desaturating it a little and adjusting the distribution of contrast does help the atmosphere significantly.

Your arguments fail

Haha I didn't really mean that the should use the same engine. Of course they shouldn't, and of course they should use all the new features currently available on the market right now but they really shouldn't change the game when it comes to atmosphere and gameplay, which was my point

This is pretty bitchin for just completed the second quest of Act 1.
I've got some awesome loot so far. My +36% magic item find rate is owning hard.Edit: Act 1, I meant. Act 1.
-
Heh, some nice stats for a shit damage.
-
Someone actually carries stamina, antidote and thawing potions?
Go West Lemming. It beckons for thee.
-
That's the vendors screen I think

-
It is.
Also I meant Act 1, not Act 2, so the damage is pretty decent. I also have a two damage boosting charms in my inventory- one 1-4 lighting and one 1-2 cold.
I'm playing Necro anyway, so damage I do directly with attacks is pretty secondary.

Real men play Titan Quest in celebration of Diablo III.

I'm currently playing Titan Quest Immortal Throne in COOP with my best mate for the second run. Massive game. Took us like a whole week to get through the game and the expansion. Now we're doing it again

I'm a level 17 Hunter and he's a level 16 Necromancer.Our last 2 characters were 45+ Warrior and Rouge.

I should have picked up the expansion for my current run through, but I felt guilty cause I never actually beat vanilla TQ before. Last time I tried I pumped way too many points into some lame ass wolves with my Defender/Nature class and by the time I was in China my wolves were useless and I had nothing else leveled up. Was a pretty fucking noob move on my part
Those bipedal tigers were owning me hard. -
Some did see some health potions in the DIII Videos? No? Good, their are banned in Diablo 3
, their will be funny red orbs that you have to pick up to gain life

so I have read over most of the posts to this thread and just laugh at what I am reading. First off Blizzard is not going to change the art direction of Diablo 3, its just not going to happen. What you saw in that demo was less than 1% of the first act of the game. I do not think you can cast judgment based on that as where the art direction of the game has gone. I think one thing we learned through wow and warcraft3 and diablo 2 is that story is important to people and the environment around that story is also important... you have to build up to it and as you progress through it, the world around you picks up that feeling of the story. What you have seen so far warrents the warm look and feel because nothing really horrible has happen yet in the game, your adventure has just started and the evil wraith is few at this point. I can assure you that the game keeps true to the diablo look and feel.
As for some of taylor's comments I agree with him 100%, Blizzard does not make crap... we never have and we never will. We do not believe in releasing stuff that is not complete, that has not been tested and a game we our selves would not play. We still support all our older games, for example we just released a patch for warcraft 3 on monday, which added to the game player created content, we released a patch for diablo 2 last month, we released a starcraft patch several months ago. Some of these games are 10 years old, Battle.net which is over 10 years old, still to this day gets updated with new functionality. We care about the gamers... We did not release starcraft: ghost because it was not going to be an awesome game, we waited 10 years for starcraft 2 because we wanted the time to be right and its going to pay off and I think the same will be for Diablo 3

The diablo fans doesn't have anything to complain about. Atleast they get something that looks like the original games...
