It's not a statement but I'm pretty sure they won't change it.

Haha this petition is really pathetic. Honestly, diablo 2 had very bland art, I don't know why you would want it to look more like that. It's whiny stuff like this that makes most games look so generic in their color palette, art directors are afraid to make choices like blizzard does now. Your all gonna buy it anyway, and with some nicer colors, some people new to the franchise will be interested aswel =)

Agreed. I rather like this new art design- it's clear, colorful, and the backdrops in the outdoor area are just beautiful. I love the arty (not cartoony you goddamn idiots) look. I really think it's stupid that the people bitching are cherrypicking calmer shots to contrast D3 to D2, too- It would be far more accurate to take a still of a huge gang of enemies getting slaughtered.

Also I don't know why anyone would care if Blizzard announced a console port- they've had them in the past, and they're always made by a third party dev. It wouldn't effect Diablo 3's PC development one way or another. I doubt there will be one- past blizzard game ports have been poorly recieved. Anyone remember Starcraft 64?

Or Diablo 1 on the playstation?

The thing is, people haven't even seen the entire game yet. Sure, the entire style displayed so far is rather special but the dungeons in the gameplay video looked pretty damn mysterious and foreboding to me. Which is exactly what Diablo is about, right? The sudden contrast change when going outside was a bliss. People everywhere are moaning that games these days are all gray and colorless. Blizzard does exactly the opposite and people are still not satisfied. Its impossible to satisfy everyone, which is also exactly why that petition won't come through.

I'm pretty sure this game will feature beautiful outdoors where you can feast your eyes for a while and then change to a nice dark and gloomy setting again to get into the real Diablo business. Who is to say all the outdoor environments will feature beautiful forests anyway, I'm sure there will be a lot of variation. A whole lot more variation than Diablo 2 anyway (which is possible through this art style).

yeah well, it's too late to do anything when they do, because by then the game would be finished, right?

I mean, I understand all that people trying to get the game to look darker, etc, but tell me, when was the last time a petition changed anything?!

Haha, like that Uwe Boll petition. Good stuff, can't believe people always think it will make a change or something.

Well, Blizzard is a pretty good developer and much like Valve, they listen to their community.

What they might do is keep it in mind to make some of the areas in the game even more gloomy than the one we already saw with the Barbarian.

But to completely change the style and colors? No way, never.

Diablo was always a dark and gloomy game even before the whole dog shit brown and coffee stained filter effects came into play in modern titles. Why change it? It's why all us fanboys loved it, because it was a depressing world even when it was bright I.E Lut Gohlein. What if you took away the stats or inventory system from an RPG, it wouldn't be an RPG then. Taking away the dark art and music style from Diablo is taking away everything that made the game appealing to a great deal of people. That isn't what made it fun? Of course it was, it was one of the many great things that made Diablo different! Take Diablo's moodiness away and you're left with any other RPG that's on the market. It didn't need changing. Don't fix what isn't broken.

So you'd be happy playing it if it looked like Barbie's Dream Boat as long as it had the loot. I see. Makes a lot of sense now.

They could keep everyone happy with a few preset colour correction options like UT3 has.

I'm wondering if it was done on purpose to build hype, look how much it's got everyone talking about it.

I started a new D2 game today as a necro. After finishing the first quest and exploring the next two fields I've got a set of superior leather armor slotted with two chipped topazes for +18% magic item find rate, and a charm that gives +1-4 lightning damage per hit and +4 defense, a +1 max damage ring, a +16% hit rate ring, a +5 Stamina amulet, and +5 stamina boots. Got a feeling this is gonna be a good run.
