Actually, Diablo 3 is a hoax. It's really The Lost Vikings 3 : The Search For Olaf.

Hmm it doesn't look or feel as dark and brooding as the originals

    Dang, I'm so excited!

I watched the event live, and I was afraid all the time. Blizzard knows how to make their fans fear.

    BUT DIABLO 3.

Between StarCraft II and Diablo 3, I think I'll become lifeless.

This was one of the worst online events EVER thanks to that fucking Octoshape bullshit.

However holy shit that gameplay video The boss monster at the end picked up the barbarian and ate him! Bit him in half! The blood splattered over its chest and stayed there until the monster died and burnt up! Holy shit!

Well firstly, forgive me for being sceptical that a picture closely resembling Arthas surrounded in frost was actually Diablo surrounded in fire!

    Secondly, awesome!

I thought the new guy seemed too similar to the Necromancer. But it says in the FAQ they're only having five classes - so I assume the Necromancer and a few others are being rolled into hybrids. I went really fanboy watching the gameplay clips "Here's a barbarian favourite..." "WHIRLWIND?!" "...whirlwind" "OH HELLS YEAH."

Is anyone else bothered in a total fanboy way that it resembles wow in appearance and not the gritty and dark diablo 2 style?

Yeah, blizzard seem to ahve adopted one art style and are progressing to apply this to all their games. WoW Starcraft 2 and now Diablo 3.

They have money to do whatever they like... I don't know why they didn't aimed at something a bit different! Pheraphs something a bit more gritty and dark like Dux said, oh well...

Point and Click games, do not interest me at all, so I'll skip Diablo3 as well as all blizzard titles!

Dark and gritty? Diablo 2 wasn't very dark and/or gritty. Not any more than the first part of the gameplay video at least. Are you forgetting that Act 2 was a desert and Act 3 was a jungle? The environments looked very reminiscent to me.

If you ignore the outdoor image (seeing as all the D2 images you posted are from dungeons) the only difference in appearance is the result of the move to dynamically lit 3d with a higher def display. There is an added artistic quality that makes the environments have a somewhat hand painted appearance- this is most certainly something WoW does NOT have. Wow looks cartoony and simplistic- as if Insomniac made the environments back when they were making Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games. D3 looks artistic but suitably moody and impressive.

I think it looks good and I'm pretty excited, but I gotta admit that I'd much rather like to see Blizzard try theirs hands at a completely new IP.

Holy shit, this is not just a teaser or an announcement of the simple sort! A full blown website, cinematic-, gameplay-, artwork trailer, story and character backgrounds, screenshots...call me excited!
