    Hello everyone!

After hours and hours working hard on my map and after some playtests hunting bugs and troubles, the public beta of dm_sublimity is now available.

Also, remember that this map was mainly designed for the theme, but it also has a nice gameplay which is pretty much like Quake's.

The map is perfect for one on one games, though it can easily be played with 4+ players. The layout is pretty simple and there are tons of ways to avoid the enemy to kill him in the back for example. The map also features two bounce pads and several things to throw in the face.

So, here's the download link: Download the map here.

Some screenies: (some are a bit outdated)

Don't forget to give feedback if you play the map, I'd be glad to see your thoughts on the map.

    Credits:

PhilipK, EvilLair and dm_vapour for the textures.

Klems for helping me with the flying cars (designed by myself, see my poor texture making skills) texture.

    Warby for the props.

Capitaine Mousse for the screenies and host server.

Kirumi for the advices concerning lighting. (thanks as always, buddy).

Capitaine Mousse, Kirumi, Comatrix and Kaghoki for playtesting.

    And MapCore of course.

    gonna try it right now

EDIT: The visual quality if this map fuckin rox, really breaks up the hl2 theme, but it is too small and the corridors are partly too tight.

one thing i notices is the burning concrete thing outside the map, it doesnt really fit into this map

Oh yeah well, forgot to include a .txt file.

You just have to extract the .bsp file in your /steam/steamapps/youraccount/half-life 2 deathmatch/hl2mp/maps folder. I'll make a readme file next time.

Freak: Yes I agree about the tightness of the map, it wasn't on purpose at first but when we played it we found it pretty cool, so it has been kept. About the burning thing outside on the little bridge, it has been added for the ambience mainly, with it I wanted to create an oppressive ambience, something's happening in this huge city, and the alarms/overwatch voices come to strengthen (not sure about the spelling) this ambience.

But well, if it's too 'out of place', I'd remove it.

I'll test this map as soon as I get the time, I'm a hardcore dm'er so if anyone sets up a server with this map, be prepared to get pwned.

I added the server to my favorites but it doesn't detect it, I also searched for dm_sublimity but it didn't find any server hosting that map

PhilipK, EvilLair and dm_vapour for the textures.

dm_vapour as in MY dm_vapour? I thought some textures looked familiar.

Props to my fellow peeps at Team Dystopia for those textures then.

Might check out this map if I find the time! Certainly looks great from the shots.

I just played it alone then, it wasn't too much because well, I had no one to play with but the map looked sexy really, good work man!

Wow, this is a very good map. I really loved the futuristic feel of the map, those awesome flying cars, sweet skyscrapers with nice bright shining lights beaming across the sky, and that's just when you look up at this beautiful vista that has been created.

The ambient sound in the map was great, I hope you realize though that the thunder sound effects sort of started playing only after being in the map for 5 minutes, I don't know whether this was intentional, or you have just overlooked something (I suspect it was done on purpose), but I fear some players won't stay in the map long enough to hear those thunder sounds which really went well with this map.

The brush work and lighting was great too, defiantly reminds me of Half-life mapping (compliment ).

My only really criticism is that I thought the map lacked variation, the playable spaces where filled up with same sort of brushwork, same lighting etc, but to be honest, that comment kind of feels unfair considering the quality of the repeated content.

Also, I was unsure of what that place (the playable space) was used for, at one stage I thought there was a road, but it kind of led to nowhere, so I just assumed it was some sort of walkway or something. It kind of felt like I was in a space ship. Probably some things like rubbish bins, vending machines, benches and seats or whatever could have fixed this.

But yeah, this is one cool map, well done, It gets a 9.5/10 from me!
