I know the beta has been around for awhile now and it's been getting mixed reactions but I love it. I had pretty much written it off back when it was announced as console only (console BF lol rite?) but I'm definitely going to pick it up now. I like most everything about it. The sounds in particular are really impressive, they all sort of carry through the environment and the bullet ricochets and explosions are all great, too. The screen bob is really nice, it's not over done but obvious enough to pull you in a bit more, I can totally see hints of Mirrors Edge in this.

Everyone I've talked to has been down on the beta and the demo but I don't get it. It captures the feel of BF on the console really well and adds a bunch of cool stuff to the mix with the destructible environments. People be crazy.

I'm a huge BF2 fan, but this just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I need to play it a bit more (only played the demo for about 2 hours), but the shooting felt extremely weak to me. Apart from the grenade launcher, and the regular bullet based weapons had almost no feel to them, which I find weird because I really liked the infantry based combat in BF2. Also that Oasis map looks brilliant, but layout wise it felt kinda uninspired, with just loads of the same buildings repeating over and over. Maybe its because its the destructible buildings and they need to reuse em alot, but the urban BF2 maps always felt like real cities even though they used the same objects over and over. Here it just feels more or less slapped together. Also the control scheme inside vehicles just messed with my head. I want acc. on the right trigger, deacc. on the left. Having acc on the left and deacc on the left button and the shooting on the right trigger just made me crash all the time, felt totally unintuitive.

Anyway, the destructible wall stuff is kinda fun and it looks great. I'm probably gonna get it no matter what, but its definitely not as good as I had hoped.

A good old buddy of mine, who worked with me back in the Max Payne days worked on this game, I'm very curious to try it out...

Yeah, it threw me off as well, and why they didn't at least offer another control scheme for the standard right gas/left break is weird but I kinda got used to it. Though in the tank it kinda works out, since they use the trigger for fire. I understand it for consistency across the vehicles but they should offer an alternative.

I'll probably play the single-player campaign, but I can't imagine myself getting serious about the multiplayer like I usually do for the PC Battlefield games. In that respect I'll hold out for when the inevitable Battlefield 3 comes along, which'll most probably have more fine-tuned infantry combat and all the destruction stuff they've developed on the engine.

I was at my parents over the weekend where they only have a PS3, and the BF demo was the only interesting thing on the PS store, so I decided to give it another shot on the PS3. Its the same controls obviously, but I got a bit more used to the controls, and its actually pretty good. I'm still not sure if I really like the Gold Rush mode, or rather, I hope they still have regular conquest mode as well . Anyway, there are way fewer "Wow" moments than in your regular BF2 game, but its definitely the best console port of a BF game so far.
