The engine is Nomad, and it's a revamped version of the original CryEngine (heavily modified). I personally only hold my expectations for it to be some above average title due to the fact Clint Hocking is the creative director.

I believe Ubisoft is calling it the Dunia engine, and it uses very minimal code from CryEngine.

Furyo does work for Ubisoft, so I guess they're saying it's the Nomad engine now.

Unless he's just mistaken, which can happen.

I did not know that . But, most of their new videos (as recent as May 28th) they have the "Dunia Engine" logo on the front. Thats what i was basing my comment off, and an interview i read somewhere.

Yea a quick google search proves that, but I also remember them using the "nomad" title for the engine some time ago. Maybe they changed it because the Crysis hero's nickname is "Nomad"

    1) Why the fuck was that on an age gate?

    2) That was the cheesiest thing I've ever seen. How that announcer managed to keep a straight... er, voice, reading that in that tone, is beyond me. You'd think it was a promo for a sex toy or something.

    3) Looks slightly more complicated than the Timesplitters map editor, only because you can alter the terrain ala displacements. No mention of placing enemies or setting up game goals, I note... Nothing beyond making the basic terrain then placing pre-made models and setting the time and weather. :/

I hope it's a full, in depth SDK on the PC. I want to see full mods, not just random maps with no goal but killing doods.

looks like battlecraft (Battlefield Editor). i like the way it works but I see it as "problematic" as all "set terrain and models and woosh"-editors in opposite to our "Brush"-Editors (Hammer, Radiant, UnrealEd) - it seems these stamaw-editors (TM!) lead to much more repetitive maps and doesn't help mappers to become real creative about what they do - at the end of the day they just placed the same 100000th time the village in the slightly different hillside. it doesn't allow for f*cking up the gameplay the devs had in mind and create a new gameplay out of nothing but the leveleditor - it'll be all over the same.

I think the fact that this is running on an xbox360 is pretty awesome. I agree it won't promote innovation and "custom content" in the sense of brand new settings or game modes/mods, but it gives console owners the ability to create own maps and share them via xbox live with other players rather quickly!

Admittedly, this was already possible in the FarCry console games, but the way Ubisoft sticks to this and promotes it is a good thing in my opinion. Us PC developers are spoilt by the amount of freedom and creativity the platform gives us, I'm sure the average console joe will appreciate such an editor! Especially one that as easy and streamlined to use as this one...

Oh, the commentator and the script he's reading out is indeed

Console editors are always about throwing down some random assets and jumping into the game rather than complex editors for anoraks. It’s just not the medium to do that on. I imagine the PC version will get the whole shebang.

And I assume imported of assets wouldn’t be allowed on the 360 version, because Microsoft wants to verify everything that gets on the console. Ex: UT3 on the PS3 allows all custom modifications and maps, while the 360 version does not allow user modifications at all and additional content needs to be approved by Microsoft first.
