bbzzzt Alright so it's about time we have another low poly contest bzzzzzttt

The theme this time is ROBOTS.

    Specifications:

    - Max polycount: 350 tris

    - Max texture size: 256x256 (specular/alpha/glow optional - no normals allowed this time)

    Final submissions should include:

    1) Your name, email, website, tri count, etc...

    2) a 640x480 beauty render

    3) a 640x480 viewport grab (no texture filtering + gray background + wireframe. Don't know how to turn texture filtering off? Check this)

    4) Your texture flats

    5) A link to your model in .obj format + all the texture flats

/!\ I can host the zip/rar files for you if you don't have a host /!\

/!\ Multiple entries are allowed and encouraged /!\

This contest will run from May 14th to June 30th and final submissions should be posted in a specific thread (which will be created later)

    Have fun bzzzzt!

Mine so far, but I might make a few minor tweaks. But technically, only the texture remains.

424 tris. Still gotta clean the mesh!

~ 1 hour of modeling. I admit this tasted good for a change!

    Looking good

Remove the teeth to save some tris and use an alpha map instead.

    Thanks dude.

Well, yeah, I thought of that, but alphas require a fairly good amount of size in the texture map, otherwise they will look blurry, so I prefer sacrificing a couple more polys and make the teeth with geometry, it will look a lot more sharper and metal like.

The overall geometry is still a bit messy, there's a lot of places were I could clean the mesh out!

I'll work a little bit more on it next week!

    Nice seir!

His head is obviously floating on an electro magnetic field, not because he's already 352 tris, thus denying a neck.

    Yup nice,

Quakis, you could work on the shape though, it's rather generic atm

Imo the polycount should be raised to 400tris.

Well, here's my entry so far. It needs much optimization in order to fit requirements tho :F, it's robot H-4 (Hurg series) manufactured by Hurg Industries.

Mino I think you should really increase it to atleast 400 or 450 so we can actually model something

    + 1 on that.

    Even Hurg agrees.

Nice work on the facial expression @HP and Buddy, it's amazing what you can do with just a few cylinders and boxes.

No. That's not the idea with this competition. You're supposed to make what you can within the limits. It's not like we're going to up the limit to 20k polies in this LOW POLY competition

skdr, when you're going to model something out of 350tris you will agree that 400-450 is the way to go

ps. if more than 350 is considered as highpoly then sry
