ZPC, and to some extend Gmod.

I found ZPC in a discount bin at a discount clearance store about four years ago, saw it had bungie on the box, and liked the art style on the screenshots on the back (all from drawn cutscenes rather than ingame), and thought it might at the very least be worth the price. It turned out to be the very worst game I've ever played, bar none.

Gmod, because the normal sandbox mode can never hold my interest for long (I get out all my creative desires through Hammer and UnrealEd), and all the fun multiplayer modes made with LUA run at like 5 FPS for me most of the time.

I'm sorry to say I agree on that.

I just can't get myself to play it. It feels like I should but every time I started playing it again it got so damn boring after ~5min

    I tried to like it...

I'm glad i didn't bought Bioshock. I expected something like System Shock but when i played the demo i didn't feel the magic. Also the "Uncanny Valley" experience bothered me pretty much in the game. Gfx so detailed that every small thing that was not perfect instantly popped in my view and annoyed the shit out of me.

Bioshock is a very nice game, but I think it would have been twice as good if developed for the PC like System Shock 2.

Bloodlines - Didn't really understood it

Some BF2 exp which i can't remember the name of - bought it from EA download service and played it like 3-4 times, laggy on my comp.

Elebits - Haven't really got into it

Tomb Raider - I bought this just to get the nude patch to work, I WAS 14 FFS!!!!

Red Orchestra - The graphics isn't really top notch and that destroys the feeling for me

i found this thread because i searched the archives for the thread where we discussed the dynamic shadowing in cod4. i was thinking about opening a thread like " the 5 worst investments of my life" but since this sort of thread already exists i might as well write down the games that would have made my other list:

    5) the open world ubi games: prince of persia / assassins creed / far cry 2 although all these games sport fantastic tech an mind blowing artwork the gameplay is soo boring and repetitive that i quickly wished my money back far cry2 i didn't even complete and i usually beat everything i buy.

    4) everything on the wii except resident evil 4 and mario galaxy and okami (ok there is actually some good wii games ^^)

    3) "global operations" from "barking dog studios" i actually kind of liked the game it had everything that made cs great and more. only problem it had nobody online playing it D: ... there were like 5 severs with 6 people total playing it at peak times D: nothing stings worse than buying an unpopular multiplayer game.

    2) splinter cell chaos theory: starforce protection kept me from playing it and i bought it full price for the pc D: actually at some point after trying to launch it for like the 50th time in a FLUKE it launched and than i kept my pc with the game running for 3 days and nights because i didn't know if i could ever launch it again after i shut it down. i swore right than and there to never buy a drm pc game again unless the drm is steam.

    1) vortex for the snes ... most of you probably don't know this game ... and consider yourself lucky its one of those fx chip 3d games for the snes. i bought it out of the bargain bin when i was like i don't know 12 -14 for 49.99 deutsch mark which was the lowest snes games would ever get but with inflation and all its was pretty much a 50 euros full price game today. this thing is just a complete mess low frame rate horrible controls super hard difficulty i could never figure out how to beat teh end boss after the first stage this thing is just a complete nightmare. and it made a hugh dent into my young german student wallet that was like a year of savings right there down the gutter. luckily i also picked up "flashback" out of the same bargain bin for the same price and that game WAS FUCKING AWESOME !

    honorable mentioning:

-halo3/gears2: for the same reason the guys who make them are just way too rich already i paid danish full price for these which is like 70 euros so together 140 euros i could have bought like 10 world of goos with that and i should have ! (both games look and play pretty well though its just about fairness)

Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) - Maybe its just me but for every sort of cool thing that happens 10 bad things come along.

Police 24/7 (PS2) - This is a good wile back but I remember seeing this in the shops for £40 and the box made it look like some sort of police sim. Turned out to be that arcade game....

Haha I totally forgot about this thread, but when I saw it I figured "Yay, another chance to say Everything on Wii!". Too bad I already mentioned that

Anyway, of recent games there's stuff like Mercenaries 2 and Force Unleashed, both are titles that I'm not even gonna play again for points. Oh and Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3, bought it at launch and I played it for about 15 minutes and I haven't put it in ever since.

GT64. I wanted a decent racing game, I thought it was Gran Turismo. It was not. It was shit.

    Stalker. The first one.

It had a great atmosphere but it was lacking fun factor for me.

World In Conflict, I played it but I expected more close combat, I didn't even know it was an RTS untill I played it, guess I was just in a rush while buying, it was only like €15 so I just bought it, but have only played it for like 2 hours...

    Quake 4 rocks n00b.

I kinda regret buying Stalker, I just can't get into it, I'm supposed to make my way across a wasteland which is so infested with radiation, it's almost impossible to explore it and bandits keep randomly spawning and killing me to boot, I know it's supposed to get better later but I just can't be arsed with it at the moment, I want to get to the good bits now, not 12 hours later!

Tomb Raider: Anniversary too, it's so repetitive I'm temped to stick it on Ebay for £5...

This is why I still refuse to buy Crysis (although I'll have to buy it as soon as I start with the Uni (they are using Cryengine 2)).

they let you buy a game for university? that's like if microsoft/apple came and told us we have to buy their OS. i am sorry but i don't see the point that a university is teaching tools and not concepts. for example it is up to us if we want to use what ever programming language in a research project or what ever software APIs you use. all you get is a basic understanding of what all programming languages/APIs might offer so you can decide on your own.

this behavior of "YOU HAVE TO LEARN WORKING WITH THESE TOOLS" is total bullshit. i might suspect that this is of cryteks interest that students learn working with their tools so that you either work for them and they had not to invest in your skills or that you start at a different company and purchase a license.

anyway: i don't want to spoil your fun but i get some bad taste while reading this.

well they gave me a copy by now and i did not need to buy the game for using the editor stuff. and they are not teaching the tools but I'm participating in an elective which is held by some crytek guys where we do use the cryengine for realising a game concept.
