For me it was Never Winter Nights 2. I got 10 minutes into the game and quit out of sheer boredom! I've since attempted to play it again two times but to no avail. Unreal Tournament III is another, so overly milked it's now just skin and bones. I've played it twice and I can remember the second time playing I actually quit half way through the match because it was so utterly dull and annoying with the cheesy taunts. Unreal Tournament 99 forever.
Games you regret buying?

Guitar Hero III.
Halo 3, and the subscription to live.
Could've bought 4 cartons of cigarettes with that.
-
Anything on Wii apart from Mario Galaxy
-
Oil Tycoon 2 \o\
Bioshock, because I spend 7 hours just trying to get it to work!
-
Nearly every game that has EA on its package. They fooled me way too often into buying their shit when i was young.

Republic.
Never before have I been so deceived. I thought it was a totally different game than it ended up being, it was almost like a damn board game. Sucked so bad.

I can't remember actually buying a game, then regretting it... I'm always very careful on what I buy and put my money on!

Mmm, on a second thought, I remember I bought Metal Slug Anthology for PSP, and the port sucks because sometimes the FPS's reaches very, very low values.

Good question, I'd say the only game in the last few years that I regret buying was Ground Control, it was a technical issue that stopped me playing the game, I got pretty sick of searching for patches/driver updates just to play the game.
Also although I really LOVE the game, the constant issues with Supcoms 4 gb memory crash is fustrating and at time I wish i'd have not bothered, it's "fixed" in the expansion pack but it appears they refuse to do so in the original game, there is an unofficial patch but i'm not really nerdy enough to understannd how to install it

So yes, I play every game I buy for a minimum of 4 hours, so even if I think it was "ok" (which is everything really) it's not a bad purchase. I buy every game and film i want to play, I don't consider myself fussy with mony either, if i buy something i really don't enjoy i will just throw it to the side and forget about it, not moan about what a waste of money it was. It's bad purchases that makes the good ones even better. Sure if you are tight for money it's worth playing a demo or reading reviews but people that expect games to be good or download them illegaly to "try before they buy" really miss the point of entertainment, we all want more of it, however, your more of a person by moving on than complaning about developers.
So it's technical issues that fustrate me with purchases, I belive the most important part of me spending money on a game/film is to have it work without hiccups.

Morrowind. I found it at a discount store, and thought, why not? I couldn't be arsed to go through thousands and thousands of stats and different ways to customize your character. It's just one of those games that require 24/7 of your time, it's annoying.
I could have bought 4 cartons of cigarettes with that as well...

I don't recall feeling that way about any game, namely because at the most I'll buy something like 5 games a year, and only those I really know to be good. And then again, I started actually buying games not that long ago. Couldn't afford many anyway, and wasn't a gamer.

Age of Empires 3 was a disappointment for me.
Otherwise I only buy games I know they could be fun/interesting because of the developer (e.g. VALVe, id) or where I see enough material (trailers, gameplay videos) to decide that I buy that game.

Amazingly, there's no game I regret buying, I've been quite lucky really.
-
Battlefield 2 (hard locked 5 seconds in on two entirely different computers after it took me a half hour each time to bind my controls)
Indigo Prophecy (get over yourselves, it's a button-mashing simon says pile of shit)
Perfect Dark Zero

Dungeon Siege, I wanted more Diablo action rpg goodness and got a passive, party management RPG. Your characters attack on their own accord without any need for user input. FUN. I'd much rather watch a game than play it...
-
Dynasty Warriors 6 about 2 weeks ago. I don't really deserve any sympathy though.
