That's interesting. There's negligable gaming industry over here that I know of so I wouldn't be suprised if most the talent goes abroad.

Damn, I didn't even consider that D3ads. I haven't purchased a secuROM game before, it sounds like a particularly unpleasant method of DRM.

Generaly I'm for the boycott of DRM, but if I really want the game, I would buy it and download a workaround.

Shit yeah, besides, the only professional Aussie level designer I know works at Dice

True that, was great to work with him on Mirror's Edge, and hopefully future projects

I ended up really enjoying the game, though not without some frustrations. The final combat sequence was infuriating, but only because I was after "Test of Faith" (achievement for not shooting any enemies). Highlights of the game for me are the subway, sewers, and the parking garage battle near the very end. Well done to the Mapcore guys who worked on this one, plus the other guys too

They have a soundtrack out, but it's just remixed versions of the main Mirror's Edge theme... which is still cool, but anyone know if there'll be a soundtrack released including the actual game's music?

Edit: also, regarding the sales thing, since it was mentioned earlier - EA apparently is still committed to continuing Mirror's Edge (and Dead Space! my GOTY 2008) despite lower-than-expected sales... Kudos to them for giving both a second chance, I think there's some big-time potential there.

and those lightmaps... I'll be damn, aint radiosity the best thing that ever happen in our gamer lives?!

I really like the color bleeding on the lightmaps, it works so well!

Few shots I took only played half an hour or so.

It is rather spectacular. When shrank a bit (ie: viewed on 1024x768) that first shot looks like a render.

It looks indeed... now imagine ingame! I'm a sucker for good graphics, good art, and aesthetic beauty!

And I guess for the first time in my life, I had that weird sensation I was playing a photorealistic game! I wanna see HL3 with this quality...

Oh and yeah, sorry about the res, I should have shrunk it. I uploaded it with the game resolution.

There are some situations in which the clean look doesn't work or has too few details.. for example:

The subway/train part is very nice though! Great job Dice.

started playing it and its pretty awesome for pc. Looks stunning and etc. the 2d cutscenes are gawd aweful to be added in such a fast pace game as this... i fealt it just derailed everything. While the 3d ingame cutscenes were fantastic... Why they went with the 2d cutscenes is beyond me but it was a bad choice imo.

That section was absolutely thrilling. Easily the best combat sequence in the entire game, with the underground sewer/sniper stuff they showed at E3 and a later-level parking garage being my runner-up favorites.

It was sections like that where the combat totally worked and I felt like the biggest badass of badassery ever to be badass.

Wow, definately the most original art direction in a game so far, looks amazing, I'd love to check it out if it wasn't for fucking Securom.
