Ohhh nice

The game doesnt seem to be doing good: http://vgchartz.com/weekly.php
If those numbers are correct, then I think that is a real shame. It is obviously not a perfect game, but it is good, and it tries to do something new. Apperantly WW2 games, and casual previous gen games are the way to go? This may get EA to rethink their approach?

Ouch

Whoa, those sales are fucking grotesque if correct, its been out in the US for 2 weeks at this point.
This is actually one of the few titles this year that I kinda hope would sell well, being that its actually trying some different things than most others.

people are too traditionalistic for this to happen i predict.

GG gamers.
This is why publishers often stick to sequels and predictably successful ideas. It's amazing enough that EA has started to try some very different things, but with them repeatedly being bitten is it likely to continue?

At least Spore sold well.

I'll buy the PC version as soon as It comes out.

Maybe its because its an expensive month with all the good games

Ooh nice! Now how to do it on my own? Every video i upload have good quality but as soon as it is uploaded it gets crappy, and i couldn't find any info about this on YT.
About the sales figures. I am not that suprised. Games are still very very expensive in my opinion. No one can with a straight face deny that the game industry is here to make loads of dollars. It is a way to get rich if you just sell enough. And if you go the safe way with games that people allready know about (FPS, RTS etc) and knowned titles they will make a lot of money. Not many people (like me) are willing to take a chance to throw away hard earned money on something we don't know anything about. And this game no matter how "good" it looks seems to be a tad advanced, i have seen so many moves in it and thinking how can i control all this without being in pain when playing. And it can't be automagic because it seem like the game is about moving and get around so what would be the point then

The small print at the beginning says it's only available on Geforce 9800 GTX+ and up... :-|

That's gotta be bullshit
-
If that was the thing, no one would play WOW, because ffs, it has so many frigging buttons, keys, items, etc. And yes that is an extreme example, and a different audience, but it still illustrates the point. Plenty of console games like Tekken have way more complicated moves, and still sell.
An expensive month isn't it either. The other games do seem to do well..
It prolly just is too new for most and that is really bad. This really shows that COD5, about as unoriginal as it can get, works better than a brand new stylish and original game. It gets even worse when you consider that even their massive marketing campaign doesn't seem to help.

One thing I do want to point out is that VGChartz is notorious for inaccuracies. The main reason for this is that VGChartz doesn't have access to worldwide data from all stores, and instead samples a small percentage of the stores in each country. They then use the amount of shipped (not sold) copies and stores per country to try and speculate what the overall count is.
Seeing as the game's not even been out for two weeks yet outside of the US, I think it's definitely too early to conclude that it's a commercial failure; I'd definitely wait until VGChartz can acquire more and more solid data (such as NPD numbers).
Also, it might be one of those slow burners that consistently sells tens of thousands every month, turning a profit overall. Could be enough to keep EA interested.

Nope, I didn't just get a money hat from EA. Nor do I want to go and work for them. And I didn't just get a bag of goodies from them, either, with a free Aston Martin tucked discretely inside, so don't get all weird on me for saying that.
Quoteyou see, Mirror's Edge is selling terribly in Europe, and the sales estimates here don't look much better (according to the generally-in-the-ballpark vgchartz.com, the game has sold a total of 150,000 units). It might just be just bad timing (launching a new franchise in the middle of one of the most sequel-heavy holiday seasons I can remember was probably not the smartest decision in the world, but it worked for Assassin's Creed last year), or it might be that the reviews were oddly mixed (Edge magazine in the UK gave it 5/10), whereas here at 1UP, we gave it a sparkly 'A-'. So why do I care if Mirror's Edge flops? Because I just finished the game over the weekend, and it completely blew me away and I'd like to see another one (EA intends it to be a trilogy) because something this bold, ambitious and well-thought-out deserves to succeed.

heh

Oh man, I didn't realise Edge had given it 5/10. That's a pretty damning result because Edge carries a lot of respect/weight in the UK.

Wonder what they found so bad about it. Will have to pick it up this week.
-
Wait for the PC-Release. And got damn it bring it on steam! I'd bet my ass it'd sell at least 50% more units.

Shit yeah, besides, the only professional Aussie level designer I know works at Dice

I really hope it enjoys commercial success in the long term.

Borrowing my friends copy, I had just gotten to the second chapter and then my x-box red ringed. :-|
