i actually enjoy it quite a big, mostly from the prospect of helping create new stuff the second that sdk hits.

i'm also very satisfied with most of the remakes. I even think cobble looks better if you give it a few rounds (it's lighting is fantatsic)

The only one I really dont like at all is piranesisii (or however you spell it) It was a bad map back then, and its a bad map now.

I need assault! I'll do the textures and shaders, who wants to map?

i got the fulldemo and gave it a play, overall i actually like it (somehow)

some of the maps are pretty dumb looking, like aztec, but office makes it all better. the main thing that annoyed me was how physics objects repel you when you run near them. also the hostages are like 6'5"

Another really irritating thing is it doesn’t seem to load an objects properties until they’re needed, i.e. if you shoot a chair for the first time it freezes for a second, works out what a chair does, then flings it/smashes it and from that point all chairs are hunky-dory – why doesn’t it get all this stuff when it loads?

this is lag from the physics objects that are set to be server side. It's calculating the physics calculations on the server and sending back the result to you, and all the other clients.

Zaphod, why are following interactions with this 'chair' not jerky.

    beef jerky.

yeah, and they hover over teh floor D:!

when u see em ingame it looks okay, but when u see em in spectator mode with some players next to em then it looks totally ridiculous

And the hostages get stuck if there's a weapon lying on the floor...

    haha, awesome

btw, the fact that u can actually shoot guns over to people is a really interesting new element in CS:S, also since the physics on the guns make em feel really lightt

I'll map and model if we change the warehouse to a factory. (almost identical layout but with welding sparkles, melted iron, conveyors, think T2 end scene)

if assault was to be remade, then it'd have to get sum layout changes. Having the middle building accesible wud be nice for starters

accesible as in you wanna snipe from the roof?

Well I'd go for some usual 'movie' hostage situation stuff like spotlights and some police cars in strategic 'protective' positions.

Perhaps CT could spawn in some SWAT vans.

Outside should be CT's domain, inside T's domain.

TBH cs_assault_1337 (or something liek that) is a really great map (not graphically of course), the guy made a lot of changes on assaults layout and they worked pretty well imo. I know its a nub map but I love its layout and flow.
