why are the dudes in the slaver pit called raiders and are instant bad? no more slaver-forehead tattoo for me

also, there was a behemoth LOL in the middle of nowhere, he spawned behind me and killed dogmeat, and just walked on. jesus fucking christ. ofcourse I quicksaved before it happened, but the retard already had spawned and there was no way to kill him (i don't carry a fatman since it's lame).
maybe it's my cheap ass version that makes my game act like a fool, but if this is the quality you get when you buy "AAA" titles, then I'm done with videogames.

Sometimes I think you're looking for issues stolve. The only odd thing I've had (aside from the odd jump animation and how they seem to think making a texture with tin cans and tires in it is gonna replace the depth of models), is a priest floating in the air at the wedding in Rivet City. I haven't had any sliding npc's either

Oh, and then there was one time where I was sneaking up against a door and the turret on the other side of it apparently saw me, and though I had broken in, so it started shooting at the door, which made everyone else hostile at me too.. But really.. That's just a minor thing that you only really encounter if you're an idiot like me :X you really must be good at finding exploits, because it seems like you're just seeking out errors by doing things that could potentially go wrong. I'm not saying this game is perfect, and I haven't even completed it yet because I'm enjoying the side quests and exploring a whole lot. To me, it just keeps getting more and more interesting the more facets of the world I explore and the more people I talk to (though I sometimes wish they'd have BioWare'd the npc's a bit with some more dialogue not necessarily quest relevant. It's a bit sad that when you meet an npc you really like, all you can do with him/her is quest related, and once you're done, you can't really talk to them about anything else).
But it's a really great game in my eyes, and it just keeps getting greater. Most of the things you've pointed out are really minor things anyway, that, in my case at least, doesn't ruin the game experience for me. If this shit should ruin game experience, then the animated textures from Deus Ex when people are speaking should have too. And the crazy voice acting (though that's really what gave it a lot of its charm for me).
..And most of these things I haven't even experienced in my playthrough.
Another fun note, I love how I can finally in a game complete two sides of the same quest.
QuoteWhen you find the android, you can tell him you'll go kill the doctor hunting for him, and he'll let you do it and the quest will be considered ended. But if you go speak to the doctor, you can still tell him who the android is, or lie about the android being dead, and complete that part of the quest too (by backstabbing the android). After doing this, I got my reward and then I shot the doctor anyway.
I also love how some quests keep adding more depth to the world and all those little things certainly make up for the minor technicalities everyone is raving about. It's by no means a perfect game, but shit, since when is ANY game perfect? You guys need to get the sticks out of your asses, all games have issues.. Especially games of this magnitude. I remember a time where 7/10 actually meant the game was good. Now people won't play a game unless it's 9/10 or more. And if it gets 10/10 people start raving about small things and try to find ways to pull the game off it's supposed pedestal. Since when do you care what other people think of the game anyway? It's just a way to see what a general opinion is, and if you don't like it, well, guess what - that's okay too. Just don't play it. Stop ruining other people's fun.

My fallout 3 retrospective:
QuoteWell, I finished the game today. The ending(s) were kinda blah, although I did enjoy the last big battle with the giant robot(although he really didn't need me there, I coulda just ran along next to him, it didn't seem like he could die...). I still enjoyed running around killing all the enclave soldiers.
I guess my biggest complaint about the game would be its difficulty, I played it on 'normal' and it was really, really easy, especially towards the end. Once I got the Tesla armor and plasma rifle, it was pretty much impossible for me be at risk of dying from damn near anything. I'd strap on the Deathclaw gauntlet or shishkebab and just tear through enclave soldiers. Deathclaws and Yao Guai still required firearms, because they do an absurd ammount of damage, so going toe-to-toe with them was a deathwish. And on top of that, Fawkes is just a complete beast, once I got him I could have made it through the rest of the game without firing a shot, provided he could actually follow me properly. After I finished the game, I reloaded it and tried to kill him with various weapons, and my god he takes twice as much to kill than anything else in the game, by FAR. More than the behemoths. I shot him four times in the head with the Alien pistol, and it barely took him below half health. A toe-shot from that gun is insta-death to any other creature in the game, except maybe the behemoths(never tried). I tried mauling him to death with the deathclaw gauntlet, again maybe three hits to kill anything in the game, and I barely got him to 3/4 health before he wasted me. Pair that kind of absurd health with a gatling laser, and you have an unstoppable killing machine. All your companions auto-heal to 100% health after any battle, so I really can't imagine Fawkes dying(unless you decide to push his fat ass off a satellite dish....
). Jericho died on me a couple times, but that was when we traveled to a location and were greeted by a who's-who of Fallout 3 baddies; raiders, enclave soldiers, giant radscorpians, seemed like damn near everyone showed up to whoop my ass in unison. We both died pretty hastily... That was pre-power armor though, I doubt it would have even been a challenge at the end of the game.As if it wasn't easy enough, stimpaks are in no short supply in the capitol wastes. I finished the game with 212 stimpaks in reserve, which is fifty MORE than I used in the entire game! I didn't need to use a single one in the final battle/robot escort.
Yes theres a handful of annoying glitches in the game, some of the animation and dialog isn't the greatest(although overall I think the dialog was pretty well done), but I don't think any of that takes away too much from the game. It was still a whole lot of fun to run about and explore. I wish the game didn't get so easy at the end.. I mean its cool to be just a complete badass, running around with tesla armor and a flaming sword, shredding anything in your path, but I would have liked a few truly tough battles. When I get the urge to play it again, I'll go for 'hard' for sure.
I loved this game. It has some minor issues, I know this 'review' sounds pretty negative but really I truly had fun the whole game. I have no problem calling it 'fallout', I think bethesda nailed it.

I'm 18 hours into the game, and I still didn't made any of the main quests! xD I'm having lot's of fun exploring the wastland and making side quests, this game is really huge and awesome!
So far, I loved Rivet City! For those who don't know what it is, it's an old aircraft carrier, with a freaking city inside! How awesome does that sound?!

Here's a few shot's I took.

Love that shot of DC centre, simple but effective.

Well I'm finally over the harcore addiction period that comes with any game and am slowly getting back to my life

Here are pictures of my first run (minor spoilers for the purists out there, nothing that hasn't been mentioned by word in the posts already)
This is my character Arthur the good natured. He is a great guy that tries to make things right in the world. And when words don't work, well, bullets usually do.

You can never get tired of Nuka grenades.

By the end of the game he had already accumulated the best gear possible, including a unique sniper rifle.

She's not so much for "fighting the good fight", as long as she can have her comfort secured, she really doesn't care about others.
She likes long walks on the wastelands, a romantic gunfight and weapons that fire more than 800 bullets per minute.

Of course that wen a Behemoth shows up she pulls out her "darling"

Quote from Sentura
...was that really neccesary?
I agree!

And trust me, if there's a game where you can't see it's beauty in screenshots, that game is definitely Fallout3!
When this games want's to be beautiful, it is! There are some really great environments, and the interiors are really great
I'm getting a bit tired of all this "Fallout 3 bashing" thingie, so I guess I'll just stop defending this game, and let close mindeds live their life peacefully.

i'd agree to some extent that it's not a "fallout" game, but it's a good game nonetheless. there are a few things that reminded me alot about the proper fallout style (
Quotegassed vault that messes with your mind? AWESOME
), and then there's alot of things that reminded me of oblivion.

a couple of friends and i have been giving thoughts to making a sort of money pool for what will be said in zero punctuation on the topic of a particular game... and while i wouldn't have walked away with all of the hypothetical money for this week's episode, i'd have taken at least half of it.
plus, it had an ayn rand reference! a daring move by an equally daring reviewer.
