I would like to see random encounters for fast travel and hear a reason as to why they wouldn't include it.

So you cannot ruin your own storyline. You are telling me that if I got into Vault City in F3, I wouldn't be able to kill all of them since many of the NPCs in that city are talking heads and\or important NPCs? HA!

When I say NPC I don't mean the normal bad guys you encounter, I'm talking about cities full of people.

There is no such thing as random encounters in real time, that would un-random them since you can choose to run around them. Never met that jinxed dog? That Jinxes you, and you do not notice until a few days and a couple of oversaves later?

Chunks, they aren't a part of Bethesdas history, they want to make their own game and therefor remove a lot of the features that make Fallout into Fallout

I found it really annoying in Fallout 2 when I accidentally killed or spoke to a crucial NPC incorrectly and could no longer complete the game ._.

So I'm glad they're having this feature, in a way.

For me, that is exactly what I want to see! Oblivion is the best RPG I've played!

    Fallout should play like Fallout.

    Yes, Taylor, partially, I agree...

It's like, for instance, someone decided to make Max Payne 3 an FPS, it wouldn't be the same, and the fans would get really mad.

But well, Bethesda owns the IP, and they can do whatever they want to do with it, but given the very good reputation this company has, I think the fallout franchise is in good hands.

Max Payne 2 was amazing with a mod I found that made it first person. It made a number of scenes feel and play totally different, like when you have to hide in the cubicles from the mobsters when you're in the hospital without a gun.

Being afraid of or getting pissy over change is a loser's game. They could release the next Deus Ex game as a real time strategy, and if it was good I'd still play it.

Fallout 3 is a totally different game and that's why it's gonna rock!

How can you be angry because you can't kill children? Is that a key part to fallout 1/2? Did your average player of FO1/2 even try to kill a child? You're just digging for something to be mad about.

Just listen to yourself. I want to kill children. What the fuck?

It's not the fact that it's children, it's the fact that you were able to do EVERYTHING in FO\2, including blowing up those gypsy kids who stole shit from you when you walked by them. In the previous FO games, you could kill entire cities, not everyone did, but you had the option to do it.

Most people probably didn't blow up the kids, since they never noticed that they steal stuff from you.

So yeah, it's kinda a major part of the FO games, the ability to do EVERYTHING you want to, and not being limited by Bethesda wanting a 15 rating, and not 18... FO3 doesn't sound like it will give me that option.

Everything? really? you could tell your character to pinch a loaf on a sleeping dog? Dance a jig? Say anything beyond the 3 options you're given? Killing kids does nothing for the game, never has, and never will. It doesn't enhance the experience, it doesn't give a feeling of 'freedom'. It's stupid. It'd be stupid for them to include it, considering it'd likely cause the game to be banned in some countries and at least have the rating go up as you stated. Why would they severely slash their target audience just so you can kill kids, which has absolutely not a single thing to do with the gameplay?

Yes, fallout had many different paths you could take, many different options along the way, but it is not a complete freedom game. there are still a set number of missions, a set number of endings, and only certain things you could do. Theres a ton of ways to go about doing the things they have given you to do, but you're still wandering down a set path.

In my opinion, what made fallout great was the dark humor(don't even try to say killing kids is somehow dark humor), the involved plot, the many different ways you could achieve your goal, and of course the setting and interesting characters. Killing kids, or any NPC really, has nothing to do with it.

Awesome. The only thing that annoys me is that skeleton, I don't think it would be in such a good shape after a few hundred years.

"Before I go on, though, please understand -- calling Fallout 3 one of the most impressive videogames of the year in a season that has already brought us Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV isn't meant to be hyperbole. Even in its unoptimized stage (all the content is there, development is just about polish from now until October), Fallout 3 is still one of the most engaging and playable titles this side of Liberty City... and I've only tested it for about an hour."
