Somehow I couldn't find an older Fallout 3 thread, my searching skills must suck.

Anyway, some new screens came out: http://fallout3.wordpress.com/2008/04/0 ... pcgamesde/

I'm surprised at how low-res the textures are, but it still looks good nonetheless. I can't wait.

    AF anyone?

Plus, some of the textures are very low res, which is kinda weird for a game like this, living in the current gen of games... Oh well, maybe they are aiming at mediocre PC's as well.

I just happened to know it uses the same engine as Oblivion, which means it suffers from the same problems (Shadow maps), on the other side Oblivion is an epic game, and Bethesda really know their shit, so this is definitely promising.

Never really liked the Fallout games, but something tells me I'm gonna love this one!

Oblivion sucked on Framerates/HW-Usage. It used lowres textures and plastic-models. Further more the synchronization was (and I think it was based up Coding errors) misserable! Let's hope they fix this engine alot before release of Fallout 3

Did anyone here actually finished Oblivion?

I remember I had almost 30 hours of game when my old HDD got fucked, and lost my saves with it... to lazy to play it all over again, but damn that game is colossal!

I don't care if they don't use 1024* textures everywhere, as long as the game world is big and varied.

I'm a huge Fallout fan, but I gotta admit that I've been slightly dehyped on this game recently (which I think is very healthy, since I'm really looking forward to it ).

One thing that caught my eye is how the horizon looks in some of the screenshot, specifically how alpha filled stuff objects are popping up (http://fallout3.files.wordpress.com/200 ... lout07.jpg). Makes it look more like they have a bunch of small pockets of areas rather than a big open world ala Oblivion. I'm probably over analyzing, but it just slightly concerns me

Then again it might also be some LOD

I just hope that the pc version wont be too gimped for the consoles. I always found the PC version of Oblivion a bit consoley with it's huge menus, text and unzoomable map.

Those ghouls look pretty boring and stupid. Ghouls were the coolest NPCs you could find in Fallout 2 and now they are just some kind of generic zombies...

I disagree with you. I think it looks really scary and true to the original.

I agree with Pogo, I think they look pretty authentic to the original games. The other mutants however, look really crappy tho, I'm definitely not feeling them!

wait for interplay to get back up, which is "in the works". they still sit on the mmo license, and I think they plan to use it in the future.

While I think fallout would be a great franchise for an mmo, I have little faith in Herve Caen to do anything worthwhile. The guy ruined Interplay in the first place. I just think he is trying to hold on to what he has and make some cash before the whole thing goes under. He is a terrible business man and not that great a developer, just look at his track record.

I would be more confident with the development in someone else's hands and I'm glad Bethesda scooped up the rights for us. I would hope that boyarsky, cain and anderson get involved in the franchise in some manner in the future.

forget about boyarsky cain and anderson, beth said that they wouldn't bother to get any of the "real" developers involved or take tips from them.I recall reading that Herve doesn't own interplay anymore, can't find the thread on NMA but I guess anyone could if they spend more than 2 searches on it.
