Breach is probably my favorite map in csgo. I have nothing against the community maps. It's just not safe for them to push the boundaries of layout design like valve has done.
What does valve have to lose?

@mtchromatic Thank you
@P0TAT0 Oh yeah yeah
@Radu I am starting to go faster now, but I really wanted to make sure everything would fit on the building and parking lot. In this section of the map everything surrounds it. The interior, roads around the building and the parkway I made are very bsp now. But I will try not to get carried away too much!

First of all I want to thank the small insurgency mapping discord. As soon as I joined yesterday they were supportive and helpful, making sure I didn't make any fundamental mistakes and encouraging me to continue.
Here is a screenshot of the work I did today:
In the push game mode this will be A, the first objective. The building's design is a modified version of the US embassy in Iraq.
Here is one of the entrances leading the building's parking lot:
In the coming days I plan to create an underground path leading to the buildings basement, as finishing the embassy interior. Stay tuned!

They are trying compensate for all the money they will lose from people selling csgo XD

I guess the will of the people was debatable due to it almost being 50/50 and half of the population being unregistered/not voting.
A 2/3 vote requirement would make make more sense so half the population wasn't against the decision.
At this point it is your say whether there was a sampling error or misrepresentation error, because that seems to be the problem most people bring up.
Here in America we have something even more shit which is the electoral college...

@[HP] you yoinked the words out of my mouth. The referendum was completely fair imo.

I say sunset. On top of looking good, everyone is probably sick of broad daylight maps.

@blackdog The problem is all over Europe. The EU thinks they own the internet. You can thank them for every cookie pop-up you have ever had to click away from.

Pretty ridiculous. As much as I would like to see steam get phased out, if the French court rules that the game "licenses" are in fact resellable its bad news for everyone.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. They are appealing but its essentially the French supreme court that ruled against them so...

NOBODY asked for a battle Royale or a new SMG.
What do I want?
New maps from valve that try new things like canals (minus the shit timings and execution). Something like ovp was. Even with a massive competition going on, I have yet to see anything that is really out there. I get it though, it's a small timeframe and 4 square layouts are safe.
I also want updated visuals. There are plenty of better looking games that run at over 240 fps.
Gamemodes that try to be competitive would also be really cool. I am trying to work on one but I have to learn vscript.
-
I was arguing that the updates were not significant enough to change the game and make it fresh. This is literally why you replied to me originally (lol).
I don't care how much content they dump on us if it literally doesn't matter and is played by .3% of the playerbase or not used at all.
Br is not new at all, you are literally the one taking part in the Reddit circle jerk that occurs among randos every time an update drops. You probably drool over the videos where 3kliksphilip reads update logs.

@fewseb There are multiple issues with it. It spreads upwards through floors. It starts dealing damage before you hear the "ow" noises, so you think you are safe but you about to die. You see it in pro league quite a bit. They are also very hard to see through unless you use higher shading, but sacrifice that 240 fps. The insane vertical spread is not really a problem but it just adds to the klunkiness and unpredictability.
No one gives a crap about the game modes if they have over 1k hours. When is the last time you have played them? The mp5 is directly worse to the mp7, it fell off fast. The new viewer system is somehow worse than the old one, souvenirs are dead.
I have played indie games that have been releasing major updates at quadruple the rate for years. Here in csgo we get breadcrumb updates that don't affect 99.99% of the playerbase every week. Loss bonus is one of the only major updates that affected comp in any way and you didn't mention it.
People think valve is calculating every move behind the scenes but they come out with shit like dz, the mp5, and the r8.

The game hasn't really offered anything new in years, but it is pretty polished in it's current state. Fire spread and aimpunch are still fucked but that's it really.

This was similar to my original argument (grunge looks worse). I disagree with your last statement, Valve has pretty high standards when it comes to arting. Canals was beautiful, but a game play disaster.

Once again, I agree with you, but my original point was that naturally cleaner themes will always be preferred in csgo, and this supports it. I don't think bump mapping and reflectivity are game changing at all, they are just not really possible in the source engine if you want fps.
I think people are forgetting that what I was trying to say is that the engine pushes people towards cleaner themes due to its limitations. It was just an observation that I hold to be true. I didn't even expect people to reply trying to convince me that source is more powerful than I think. I have played just about every source game ?
@blackdog New Cache hype? Did you see the new tree room its awesome!
Also in retrospect, I agree that artistic decisions play into this, but dirt imo does not look good unless you slap normals on.

I almost wish people would make a small counterargument so I can see where I am so wrong!

@That50'sGuy Most of those maps are pretty dated graphically. Also, L4D2 uses fog and runs at a lower framerate as far as I remember. It looks good, but using noncompetitive compromises.
@Vaya The arid and dry maps typically look great due to being liberated of reflective surfaces, rubble elements, and foliage (its the desert). The mappers are also a huge reason these maps look good, credit where it is due. I have a pretty good grasp of what Source is capable of, I have played some of its best and worst looking games and levels (ins2 and portal are tied in my eyes). It is especially bad at using normal maps without choking, and illusory pock marks on displacements wont cut it in my eyes. I think a good competitive game to look at is battalion, which really sells some of the maps with its ground materials.
