Just make sure it doesn't affect you so much that you are groggy when you wake up. I suggest taking one 30-40 minutes before you would like to sleep.

Also, since you are in crunch it is likely the combination of blue screen lighting and mental thinking contributing to an inability to sleep. I also suggest doing something to at least remove one of those from your presence for 30 minutes prior to bed.

You're completely right, even if I'm tired I usually check my laptop or my phone before trying to sleep, as I like reading stuff on the bed. I'll try to go back to my kindle (no blue screen) or actual books.

I've been crunching at the office for a month straight now, between 5-10 extra hours a day. Sleeping is difficult after spending 19h here, I'm tired, but can't sleep. All this starts to take its toll on my body, I hope it ends soon.

There's no reason to stealth your way through the game at some point, there's just no way to do it without plowing your way through with cloak. The level design ceases to be any fun and just becomes a straight line for you to sprint through, with the occasional vent to hide in. Even then, it throws robots in there suddenly (good game design!), and cloak becomes useless. It's just a chore to try and play through. I'm not sure if I'll even get to the end of this game before I burn out.

EDIT: lol, the next mission instantly put everyone on alarm. good idea in a stealth game. This game is Invisible War 2.

It's pretty sad to read that this is happening in Deus Ex. I was really looking forward to this game. Also, microtransactions on singleplayer games... what a bullshit. I already saw it on 3DS's Bravely Default, also published by Square-Enix. I guess there are producers pushing for that :/

Yep, I checked, and that's the one I meant. In Spain was actually called "The Code" (in english). I totally fell for that.

I think it's that one with Morgan Freeman, stealing Fabergé eggs. It had something to do with a code but I don't remember the name at all, and I'd probably watched it in spanish, with our crappy translated titles.

Interesting question, I'm at the same stage right now. Not sure which editor should I focus right now. I'd like to be able to end with portfolio material, but one that can be tested with an active community.

This can be a good start for me, never tried anything with its editor, but I played the hell out of this game (and the previous one too :P) Super fun!

I might be wrong, but I think the stitching needed in 360º images would do more harm that good in this case. And I don't think this could become a standard for smaller teams, it seems way too expensive. Requires lots of hours of fieldwork, in really specific conditions (you depend a lot on the weather, time of day, etc... As light should be stable). The results are astounding though. The guys working on The Vanishing of Ethan Carter actually made a post about this, is pretty interesting:http://www.theastronauts.com/2014/03/visual…g-ethan-carter/

I recently realized that I needed to step back in my career. Been working for 5 years in flash and mobile games, mainly as game designer and programmer, but now it seems I'm stuck at the mobile games industry, can't land a job in a pc/console games company.

And I'm getting fed up, it's not the kind of job I want to do, the games I want to make, so I decided to start from scratch. I'm currently learning to model, so I'm able to block-out levels, trying to focus on 3d level design. I recently started a small project with two colleagues, so I might be able to show something in a month or two. In the meantime, i'm trying to replicate a (very, very) rough version of my favorite Q3 map, Campgrounds, to get the hang of the tools.

Wasn't an easy choice to make, I'm "discarding" skills I already have, leaving my comfort zone so to say. But I believe it'll be worth it in the long run. And it's also pretty fun :D

I'm quite new around this forum, but I figured this could be a great opportunity to get feedback on my recent Portal 2 levels.

As I have a few of them, and they are relatively easy and quick to build, posting all in the same thread made more sense to me. These levels are made using the in-game Puzzle Creator, which is super simple to use and yet enables you to create really interesting puzzles.

I try to design my levels around a "theme", which can be a certain puzzle element, mechanic, construction or trick. I hope this shows up when you play them!

Hi all! I was really surprised to found this community, it's full of industry professionals, resources... Looks awesome!About myself, I'm 26, I have been working in games since 2011, mostly in flash games and mobile platforms. I've worked as game designer, level designer, and programmer. Currently I work in a mobile games company in Sevilla, Spain. I also love to participate in game jams, though mostly in GGJ or local ones if I have the time.Right now I'm trying to reorient myself towards game and level design in bigger games, focus on that and leave programming behind. I have plenty of experience working with Unity3D, but I'm planning to start working with Unreal on personal projects. I hope that I'll be able to show something cool soon. And a question for you veterans in this forum: I have a few Portal 2 levels, and having feedback on them would be great, but I don't want to spam unrelated stuff, and I haven't seen Portal 2 levels around. These are made with the in-game Puzzle Creator, so I'm not sure they "qualify" as full creations. Would it be appropriate to post them around here? Glad to meet you all!
