    Alright here's the new layout.

New, as mentioned in above posts:

    B completely redone

    A long entry simplified

    tweaks all over...

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/zceYZRJ.jpg]

I think maybe there's not enough mid control for CTs, maybe I'll add some kind of window. I'll see after the playtest.

There is but it's a few months old. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi…s/?id=632996405

edit: updated now but haven't changed the radar. I'll make a few more tweaks before going for a playtest.

So I've decided to redo B entirely.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/HQEfj8l.png]

Any thoughts on the new B ?

I changed up A a lot too. I removed the heaven entry and simplified A long.

This is probably the only non standard thing left:

I don't think anyone minds greyboxes. It's mainly what we test.

Looks like you've snaked a lot of routes, is this to fix sightlines?

Some of them yes, the one in "top mid" is just a staircase.

Hi everyone. Sorry I couldn't make it to the last playtest. I've gone through the demo a couple times and hopefully fixed some of the jarring problems the map had.

    Here's both layouts for comparison

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/xDJGWro.jpg][Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/BbyvMzE.png]

    Summary of changes:

    • Moved A towards mid and T considerably.
    • Added another retake entry to B
    • Shortened mid considerably, rifles are totally viable for holding mid now.
    • Shortened most sightlines.
    • Added some cover on B

I know you guys don't like greyboxes on playtests, should I detail a bit before going for another one?

So i know you guys are talking about optimisation but i hope i'm not the only one bothered with those windows outside.I mean compared to the rest of the map they look really ugly. Those blocky brushes around the window models. Can you make the windows look better?

It's not just the windows, the whole main building is ugly. I'll see what I can do.

    Here's a reference picture I used btw

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/QtBHdNT.jpg]

It might help If I just add some trim around the edges.

I have no idea what's going on in some of those places. They have areaportals :S

Thanks a lot for making this, should make optimization much easier! Also apparently bomb block creates visleafs.

Out of the three times I've playtested this map, tonight was the first that FPS issues didn't make me ragequit. I still had to reduce some settings quite a way to get even close to the FPS I get on most complete maps, but it's a huge improvement regardless.

I identified two small optimizations you could make, all the same:

    http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/1456139678…2A189514AE16B1/

The pipe above could be reduced to simple cylinder with a bumpmap on for the ribs.

    http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/1456139678…794B813B6B88CB/

The grates above could be swapped for textures instead of props.

Both of the props above look great closeup, but 90% of the time players won't be examining them in any detail, and 99.99% of the time, anybody who does look at them won't care if they're simple.

Lastly, you have a stray nodraw texture that CT's can use to watch one of the bombsite A entrances:

Thanks for pointing these out. But I get pretty similar fps compared to official maps.

There are some hint/skips I could have done better in mid but my fps stays above 200. Except on A. Something's up with A and it's not those pipes. I think it might be the models under the bombsite.

    Update !

The map is now fully detailed. I've released the map complete with a VHS 1980 trailer.

The map could use some more playtesting. Layout is still not perfect, needs boosts/clipping test.

Why the hell would anyone not want a password? I lock my computer everytime I leave it, even at home! (I type Win+L in my sleep, lol)

Maybe you wouldnt want a safe password like you would use in online accounts but something you can type really fast, "123" "hgf" etc. Keeps roomates/family members away but if someone really wants to get into your windows acc difficult passwords won't stop them.

Well actually Win 10 streamlines the whole system: Win 8 so called "apps" run in a sandbox, the whole "Metro" is a basically a different system. Win 10 cleanses that, allows "apps" to run in "windows" etc.I don't call that "minimal change under the hood".
I hope the minimal "metro flat" look is now native, cos often in Win 8 application glitches tear down the mask and you can see the shitty W7 skin underneath.

Funny you would say that, I was just greeted with this when I ran red orchestra. (Game works fine later)

I think I even read somewhere they removed classic shell? Guess not.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/eSpzskC.png]

Overall win 10 is just as inconsistent as previous versions. in true windows spirit.

Example: Volume control is new, volume mixer is still from vista.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/xJqnHGn.png]

They didn't even update the icons, they're still 7/vista style.

Win 7 will probably be replaced in a few years by W10, if it proves to be as stable.

But the question is mainly a concern for W8 users, who were unhappy for some of them. W8 seems unforgiving, careful and competent people like @jackophant have all their W8 computer running smoothly, but some other like me had trouble at least once a week.

@Symix was it as smooth as advertised? They were assuring that the upgrade would be easy and so on, so I wanted to know. I would have done it myself, but my computer does not allow me to do it yet, so I'm waiting.

Yeah as I said - I only had to reinstall graphics drivers because I had 10 fps in 3d games. You don't have to do it tho I don't really see any benefits. I think it boots slightly faster but I have an SSD anyway.

    Quote from leplubodeslapin

Just, does anyone here have an alternative for the default windows image viewer ? (something fast and simple, like on windows 7)

Because on Windows 10, the thing called "Photos" is not really what i want. It's slow (due to collection and albums i guess, things i don't care about), you can't even zoom with the mouse wheel and the very useful button that fit to a pixel ratio of 1:1 (with the monitor) isn't present anymore.

I still have the old photo viewer, might be a remnant from the win 7 upgrade?

I upgraded my win 7. The only thing I had to do was to reinstall nvidia drivers. Hammer seems to work fine so far. This thing feels pretty much like win 8, doubt there are many changes under the hood. So everything that worked in 8 should work on 10
