Yes I did and to no avail, its like I am going through the skybox and everything goes black, even though I have it disabled.

Yeah I disabled skybox but it seems like no matter what value I got to with leveloverview it just is a black screen.
So I am trying to make a radar for my map so I can potentially put it out for people to play test and have an easier time with it. Right now it is currently in all dev textures and I am just working on the layout for balancing and don't plan on progressing any further until I managed to get peoples input. But the issue I am currently running into is that I am trying to make a radar for my map but following the tutorial is not working for me because when I noclip and level overview my map doesn't show up at all. I am not sure whether its because the walls could be too high in my map or if it's because I do not have the skybox properly designed. Pretty much when I noclip and put level overview on with levelmarker 1024, all I see is a black screen. I know something like this is hard to understand without actually hands on figuring out what's up but I was hoping maybe someone might have some input.
I ended up remaking the map entirely last night with only as many brushes as I need but I saved it as a new project so I still have my old one, the new map feels a tad larger even though I pretty much matched the dimensions.
When designing a csgo map is it super important for brushes to not overlap or to go into other brushes, or does it not really matter? I have the layout for my map established quite well at a certain stage right now I just figured I don't want to go into texturing or anything if some of my brushes are going to cause problems down the road, so figured I'd try and get an understanding whether I should redesign the maps brushes before I go any further.
Quote from jackophantHey there, following on from Voronstov's post, I recently made a thread specifically geared toward mapcore newcomers and making maps for CSGO. There will definitely be some crossover, but it's worth a look right?
Don't be afraid to stick something up on the forum with plenty of screenshots to boot so people can critique your work. You can also mention the difficulties you're having as I'm sure someone else has been through them as well and can always point you in the right direction!
Thank you for the additional info! The way I look at it, every piece of info helps when learning something new! ![]()

I recommend this thread, it has resources for pretty much everything if you know how to navigate it, including CS:GO (World of Level Design on that list has CS:GO mapping tutorials for example, here is another playlist of his with crucial info on competitive map layouts) and if you can't find much else there that suits your CS:GO mapping needs I would recommend checking out 3kliksphillp's CS:GO SDK + Source SDK tutorials (They're practically the same Hammer Editor), and I highly recommend Tophattwaffle, I learned the most from those three people and then practice, practice, practice.
Awesome! Thank you, I will definitely look into these resources and thank you for the warm welcome!
Hey there everyone my name is Sirlock,
I'm from East Coast USA.
I was recommended to this forum by a friend after I told him I was planning on getting into Map making for Competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
I have no prior experience with map making and hammer is my first sdk that I am trying to get into just as being someone who likes to learn new programs,
especially ones that apply to my personal interests and hobbies.
So yeah I suppose that is all I really have to say
