This project is currently a work in progress

This is the alpha version of my new map, 'Keep'. I am currently looking for people to test it and run it on servers where I am able to get feedback on timings, pathways and strengths for each side.

Keep is a castle themed map, with its themes and influence from cbbl and plans for its own custom content in the future. A shipment of nuclear arms are being smuggled in via the wine barrels and crates located in the keep. Terrorists must destroy one of two locations, the keep's wine cellar, or courtyard; where a recent festival was being held. Counter-Terrorists, aware of the imminent threat, have been dispatched to neutralize the threat and retrieve the Nuclear Arms.

    Update Alpha 4 (13/07/2015)
Alpha 4 Has Been Released - Changelog

    > A site had a rework and redesign.

    > Certain Prop's received Clipping's thanks to user feedback

    > B Site was redesigned in certain area's and balanced more for entry.

    > A & B Site received new prop placement and cover. Balancing stage is now upon us.

    > Began playing around with textures, props and geometery outside. Nothing final and was due to a lack of internet for the last month.

    > A lot of glitches and bugs fixed.

To be fair I posted this in the WIP thread a few weeks ago, but I guess a thread is more appropriate, thanks!

Considering the thread was posted 22 hours ago on Reddit. Thats impressive to say the least.

But anyway i didn't see the other thread so my apologies, just trying to let more people know.

    Hello,

So I was browsing reddits hammer section and stumbled upon this competition. Out of good sportsmanship i decided to share it with you all, a lot of games up for grabs and a good outlet for motivation.

So the dynamic buy zones would work similar to Dota's Side Shops. Interesting Concept and could work well, but i think like others suggested, you should look at releasing a version with and without, that is if you want it to be operation worthy. I think Dynamic Buyzones would be too disruptive to competitive play.

Hi Shreymann, do you have a portfolio of your previous work you can show us?

I'm sorry to say this is one of my first maps. I haven't published any maps with the new knowledge I have found. I watched a lot of videos and talked to some people such as 3kliks and they helped me learn how to make better maps with better brushwork and such. It would be very helpful if I could get a solid layout, because I feel my maps even with good aesthetics will suffer in gameplay without a well working layout. I thought a more experienced member of the community would be willing to pass down an old layout or any good layout that you would like to see tried in a map, and it would be such a help. Thanks

Nobody's likely to give you a decent layout for training purposes. You shouldn't expect your first few maps to be massively successful anyway as there's a lot to learn so if I were you I'd design a simple arms race map or something.

I think also pathing off this, designing layouts, understanding map flow and basic pen/paper work process's are very important to the overall technique that is Level Designing. I think it would be rather big mistake if you were to skip these process's or not properly learn them. Sure its pen and paper, random sketches, but it gets the creative juices flowing and helps you understand what is needed to get a good level out there.

    It has.

I think its more of a port, rather than a remake or remaster. So i suppose its still open to those wanting to revive it and give it some fresh paint.

It would be cool to see some sort of timelapse of you working on any map. I am interested in the process you take for architecture and detail.

I know how to fix Nuke.

Personally I think Guma hit the nail right on the head. If you arent getting results on nuke and your in solo Q, there really isnt much to expect. Its not till you start playing at a Team based level that you will begin to see that T's can be just as strong on nuke. Playing the last two predecessors to csgo at LAN's and online, nuke was always a favourite, because it was one of the maps that paid off when you knew what you were doing.

I miss the days of pracing for hours as a team, timing smokes, flashes and pushes to work against your opponents.

    Quote from text_fish

By your logic no map is broken -- all the poorly balanced maps just aren't being played right. Therefore we may as well all give up on level design?

Even if Nuke doesn't get fixed, it's an interesting exercise to discuss possible changes, and it's the sort of discussion I'd like to see more of rather than less, especially on a forum full of accomplished and aspiring level designers.

I am enjoying the discussion and idea's thrown around. I don't think any of them would really be practical on nuke, and as FMP stated above, any changes and it just wouldn't be nuke. Look at cobblestone, they altered the shit out of that and now its probably worse off than it has ever been.

I think it would be interesting if someone ripped out just the upper site and T roof and we ran some "simulations".

I still vote we change all the wall brushes to water textures and let the fun begin!

Currently the only purpose it serves it as a hiding place for any terrorists who can't be bothered to suicide using any of the actual routes in the map. It would be an interesting experiment to make the windows around rafters see-through so that T's on the roof can easily counter the camping/sniping CTs and feed information to their team-mates.

See-through windows would probably be way to strong and would then cause the Rafters to be pointless. I mean test it, but it would probably be a massive Nerf. The roof's 'actual' purpose is to use the ladder into lobby if you cant access from T-spawn door, boost onto silo, or jump on the vent and flash through skylight so all of A site is blind, then your team can push the site and frag the rafter players who are blind. It actually does serve a purpose and incorporates a good way for taking A but anyone below DMG wouldn't normally run these sort of strats and even then you would need to be premade or a team.

Maybe if a few windows were see through or there was another mechanic that wasn't too strong but still gave balance to both sides, it would be viable.
