You have? What name do you use on steam? I generally try and nickname people from mapcore with their forum name to keep track. Did you add the right account?

The mic array on your laptop should be fine, but they're usually very sensitive so I would encourage you to use a push-to-talk method, otherwise we will likely hear you typing and possibly even ourselves if you don't use a headset/headphones. Nothing quite like a feedback loop to wake you up in the morning! lol

I think so, I'll check. Jackophant I have was online 11 days ago, but if you're one of those who prefer to always be offline, that'd explain.

On the matter of my name there, it is the same name that I use here: laminutederire :) (I do that so no one may be confused).

I'll PM you there if it is simpler for you!

join us on the mapcore teamspeak, im sure we can get a game together alternatively, im happy to queue with you and a few of your friends to help out, and i don't mean in the uber smurf, carry sense. i mean help you get some understanding of the game, act as an in game leader for it. however, my french is bad... d'accord?

    add me on steam

I've added you a while back if I remember right, but you're not online that much :)

Well playtest showed me I'd have things to learn from you guys, so I'd be happy to! (And I wasn't too much of burden, excepting yesterday on de_farm, where I quite didn't get the hang of how it was supposed to be played). And I have literally no friends playing Fps, they all play Dota 2 or League of legends, that is sad I know!

I speak English with a french accent, I just have to set up a speaking system. I think the webcam mic from my laptop isn't enough to be understood very clearly?

The link for teamspeak is in the mapcore team thread if I remember right, I'll find it then.

I've ranked up when bottom fragging, top scoring doesn't necessarily mean you're better, as some roles/play-styles get less points (A lurker will not plant the bomb as often as a support player entering the bombsite with the entry fragger.) Of course these roles are never really that defined when you're pugging, but if you play with someone frequently you can start to understand how the other person plays, you can define roles more easily. Anyway to answer the question of how many wins to rank up, seems to be averagely around 6 wins in a row in my experience but higher ranks may require more.

I asked because I seem to be stuck in silver, I know I'm not a god but I figured that top fragging would suffice in silver ranks because it is an anarchy very often, so there is not much roles to have there, as it is hard enough to make your team understand that when you lose 5 times in a row on mirage when terrorists go to B, but you're still the only one there, and you can manage to kill half the team before getting killed but they manage to lose because they do not check any angles etc.. I was at five in a row yesterday, but we got owned by two global elite smurf.. anyway all that to say that in silver players usually play randomly, and I'm desperate to play with players who want to play as a team!

Have a poor Internet connection and you won't see this issue! Personally I have 100ms ping with every servers in Europe.

I wanted to ask, how many matches you have to win, while having the top score of the match mainly everytime, in order to rank up?

Or use this: Free software download for students & educators

right there you see the conditions and it is not really free for everyone:

    To quote:

" To join the Education Community, you must be one of the following:

    (...)

Student - An individual person enrolled as a student at an educational institution which has been accredited by an authorized governmental agency within its applicable local, state, provincial, federal, or national government and has the primary purpose of teaching its enrolled students."

i very much agree with the use of verticality and i will try to make some impressive structures that way thanks for your reference, the kumu museum looks awesome!

it is of the best museums I've visited! And there is a virtual tour which provides the info of how it is in basically all rooms. It lacks color a bit unfortunately..

if we are giving that much references, it is because it is promising and we trust you for something awesome :D

There are blender and sketchup which can do the trick and are free.

Lot of professional mappers here are using 3ds max if I understood right. I heard it was easier than blender to pick up, but it is not free at all. However its best advantage is that wall worm tools are a better than valve's converting tools.

@Pampers don't say that, there are people here who litteraly started playing competitive and are still in silver class, and we feel really like we suck so hard if you suck!

Hey so... I started the game, I basically suck since I am stuck on what appears to be a rooftop. What's annoying is that the tutorial at the beginning can't be skipped, and you lose 5 seconds each time you restart, and when you want to go as quickly as possible to the area where you were stuck, it can be edgy the fifth time around.

That aside, it has a pleasant vibe at the beginning and I'll have to get back to you when i'll be further into the game! I was happy to have this game to vent for 5 min when windows "raped" me again this afternoon, so I guess it is a compliment too!

I hope I'll enjoy it some more, but if I understand correctly what is specific about this game, the variety of gameplay that could emerge from that concept should make this not too repetitive.

Hey if you want some info about organic architecture just ask, I have the autobiography from Frank Lloyd Wright, where he explained the philosophy behind it. ( it is the architect who built the Solomon Guggenheim museum in New York (reference below))

Also make sure to use verticality in the scenery. Modern museums are using all techniques available to make something very high and such:

My reference would be the Kumu in Talinn:

there is a virtual tour if you want

I myself have finished handling algebra and general analysis for this year, and it feels good to have some time away from all that, so I feel your happiness, for it to be finished!

I'm sorry guys, I totally forgot to attend my map's playtest yesterday. Did you still test de_farm last night?

I wasn't there because of my poor Internet connection this week, but it was playtested I guess, as you don't have to be there when your map is playtested, it is only recommended, since you understand more easily what is being said.

So don't worry, people are friendly :)

I'm not sure, but I think that in cs go, you can compile hdr only while having the same visuals afterwards. At least I saw that somewhere in mapcore, and I tried it a bunch of times, and I got the same results while compiling in hdr only. That way you'll have your 5min of lighting compiling for hdr and you could have better results in the same amount of time (Hdr usually isn't very slow compared to ldr). If I'm wrong, do tell, but if I'm right it could help you a bit, at least I hope it will.

    @laminutederire I think you mean light_environment

env_sun is just a sprite in the sky, and doesn't actually produce any light.

yes sorry I replied too quickly, my bad.

Pointlights make very weird effects, try to put them less close to the wall or tweak their attenuation.

In addition, it doesn't seem like your skybox is doing anything, do you have an env_sun in your level for instance?

Maybe you should change texturing, using dev/reflectivity textures. It feels more natural and helps seing the world correctly in 3D. Right now I have trouble with that, maybe because it feels dark too !

I think the five seven is more suited for it.

The deagle feels odd. Then it may fit the glock, but I'll tend to see such type of graphics on the five seven because it is more curved than the glock, which edges ruin the visual effect.
