Yes but it's in no way trivial adding more server farms. Back to my original point...take it from an infrastructure engineer. :)

The increased processing time of processing all those updates might be more significant, which is why it's a PC only thing, at least for the time being, but it seems to have gone over perfectly fine. Client side, making 3x the updates to send to the server doesn't seem to have impacted performance in the slightest.

more than 12 people play at once dude. you're thinking of 1 match- there's no stats for the number of co-current matches blizzard are hosting.

The weird thing, imo, is that the 63 tickrate is 20KBps of upload bandwidth. That seems trivial for any modern internet connection, so why is it still something so avoided? This OW update makes it sound like a no-brainer, at least for games that don't have 64 player servers and shit like that.

20kb/s * number of active connections + infrastructure/ddos support etc etc. It all adds up, it's in no way trivial to be going from 10-20kbs when you're talking on this scale.

This would look a lot better with the props lit, but I had to use fast compile; the normal compile is taking like 20+ hours though, so clearly I've done something wrong here.

Is this a map anyone would be interested in playtesting if I got it optimized properly?

looks intresting. I can look at the VMF for you if you want?

I'm enjoying this...The developer really needs to work on the 'macro' though. You should feel compelled to stay on planets/solar systems for an amount of time and there should be benefits to this.

Just now planets basically feel like Mario Bonus levels- get down, go to a couple points of interest + leave.

That's my real problem with the game right now- seems HelloGames has been focusing way too much on making everything huge and not much time on fleshing out player experience.

Also - They really need some sort of Validation or vetting on the generated aliens/animals. I've not seen a single one yet that wasn't hilarious.

    and some more polished stuff

out of all the screens you posted I would say these are the only ones that could be seen as a 'visual mess.' I would recolour at least some of the tarp so the scene isn't so blue. Maybe remove the clothes as well as they are too distracting. I don't like 'construction' areas in general on most maps as they've been well overdone now- like graffiti overlays.

I think the real problem here is you have fatigue from staring at this day in and day out and you're now finding problems where there isn't really any :P The map looks insanely good.
