@blackdog don't forget about powerline connectors if you "can't have ethernet". The boxes plug into and use your mains circuitry to communicate between each other and you can run ethernet cables out of them into your router for the source and your PC as the target.

You can pick up a pair for about £20, and additional adapters can be bought to add into the network. The best ones are those which have a socket still in them so you don't lose the plug socket, but they can also work from multi-socket adapters as well.

try copying the contents of your vmf into a new vmf with a new name (de_map_test1 or something) and recompile.

cl_leveloverviewmarker <value> is to be used with 1280x1024. The <value> is meant to match your vertical resolution which is typical the lower of the 2 numbers. You won't see the vertical red bar because it is the right border of the screen if your resolution is 1280x1024.

If you run "cl_leveloverviewmarker 1024" while on 1920x1080 you will see the full red box.

I don't know why you can only use that resolution in windowed mode, check your counter strike settings and launch options, but if it the window isn't full size, your screenshot will be undersized which I imagine is why it isn't appearing properly.

Add this to your launch options to see if it helps the issue:

-fullscreen -w 1280 -h 1024

This smells of a website made without any prior planning I thought I'd jot my ideas down in a structured manner, I don't know how much you know about web design:

1) Visually it lacks a lot of impact:

• Colours are a bit bland
• Dark colour scheme is a bit gloomy
• Typography is a bit imbalanced and awkward

A fresh, light colour scheme may improve the mood of the page. Maybe revisit the alignment of some elements and definitely make sure the responsiveness is functional across the entire website, right now it's only the navigation.

2) Content is a little thin:

• No CV / Resume
• Limited project explanation / description

As Frank said, include more about the maps. Also a resume or CV could be nice to read, just even listing your experience with various level design related tools could be interesting to read for an aspiring mapper and an employer alike.

3) Structurally it's a bit flat:

[*]Everything on one page[*]Feels cluttered[*]Navigation doesn't really do anything[/list]I would have a proper home page welcoming the visitor and create separate pages for things like portfolio, contact, resume / CV. Portfolio could have 2 sections, one for hobby work and another for professional work, or you could even have complete and WIP sections. However you cut it, they can be on the same page and work like your home page does now.

Of course this all depends on what your end goal is with the portfolio, but I'm sure you've got plenty you could be putting in to it. Good luck! xx

I appreciate the power of the tool you've created, but owning 3DS Max in the first place is an obstacle. I used to have it for free with my student email address, but I sadly didn't get very far with it and now my attention is focused on blender (not that I've got very far with that either so far! ) because of the ease of access.

Are there any plugins / workarounds / converters for blender to work for this?

Sounds like a laptop would be better, but what work does he do? Dare I suggest it, but a lot of people over do it with laptops these days and may often be better served by a tablet, or a laptop/tablet hybrid.

I realise tablets usually mean smaller screen sizes, but there are all kinds of magnification utilities to make that easier. It's worth asking because people often just resign themselves to "wanting what they had before" without considering newer options/technologies

I was looking for i5 5200U, 8GB or 6GB, 930M GPU. I know that 930M is low end and that 768p is low res, but the price gap between low end and 1080p and a decent 950M or 960M is quite large. Where I live there are basically two options: Samsung or Asus. Acer, dell and lenovo have similar specs, but the gpu is either the 920m or m265, which are too much close in performance to intel hd.

if you just removed the cmos battery, depending on how accessible it was (I'm guessing laptop? ) you could've not put it back together properly or have fried something on your motherboard.

Either way, that's a pretty old laptop. It's easier to work from a budget.

It's good enough for most. All the major heat creating parts draw their air directly from outside and due to the natural positive pressure of the case the hot air is forced out the exhaust vents. However, due to the space constraints the CPU is limited to a low profile fan cooler, so people will need to be super vigilant when overclocking.

you seem to have mashed a lot of different themes together into something I don't quite believe (also personal gripe, you've mixed the use of the fine orange and broad red bomb site signage).

Regarding how busy the detailing looks, it's advisable to leave finer detail above the playable area to reduce visibility issues, but you've not left a single face without a prop or graffiti on it. It just feels very cluttered everywhere.

Following on from the detailing, your architecture: it's important for it to be believable and right now you have a lot of strangely angled buildings and unrealistic overhangs. Supports can make things feel more grounded, but the overhang still has to feel realistic. Do you have any reference photos?

It's side profile is more or less that of an A4 sheet of paper (I presume that's an international standard?) but is only 10cm wide!
