Yes, this game requires a beast of a PC... if you want to run it at 4K. Just like every game requires a beast PC in that scenario atm.

my dad genuinely bought a Titan Z to play Guildwars on his 4K monitor *facepalm* and still suffers FPS issues

Try turning off all the anti-aliasing options. I say all, but I think the menu allows for "on/off"

How much RAM do you have to be maxxing out? do you mean GDDR or DDR? because that 980 should have at least 4GB GDDR available.

Im running it at 1080p with a 144Hz monitor, and while I haven't monitored my FPS yet I've had very little in the way of FPS drops

I'm with exodus on this, I remember the playtest as well and those tunnels were a maze that didn't offer any real gameplay, just somewhere to get lost.

It was also the first time general vivi play tested from EU

There were also a lot of pixel gap camping spots that were highly abusable such as the boundary between "middle" and "shed". The raised platform in the warehouse had a window which CTs could push up to totally unchallenged and fire down at Ts barely being visible.

I did love that slightly raised metal shutter on the corner of the A bombsite building and "top of mid" (surely just CT mid?)

Coming back to B again, it looks like the only route to B for CTs is the underpass? otherwise they have to pretty much go via mid? Or through B and up and over? That just seems far too convoluted.

TLDR, I really quite liked A for it's gameplay. B is way too convoluted and CT sided if Ts have to plant in an exposed pit

I found it had vsync enabled by default, which is synonymous with putting a dent in performance. I'm running everything on high with an increased FoV as well, and it rarely stutters, running on 4790K + GTX 780 setup.

I might lower some of the settings though, not because of performance issues, but there's a lot of visual noise and it does funny things around the edge of draw distance. I just need to experiment. It could be a postprocessing issue, but either way, the menus are so horribly console orientated.

I'm not normally scared by games, but I found my first night terrifying. But I've got my flares (portable UV safe zones) and UV torch now, so I should be a bit better off.

4 hours in and loving it

I keep my skybox open as I block out and test, but I then start bringing it in tight.

Like you I don't want nades to be restricted, but I'm finding it hard to work out which angles are overpowered (like dust2 long/short) and are worth covering.

Don't they also block geometry? As my map is on a hill, you can look up as T and see the stupas as a landmark to travel towards. A skybox would block that no? Unless I stuck them in the 3d skybox I suppose... But then they aren't THAT high either.

The parkour is really fluid imo. You gauge quite quickly what sort of jumps you can make, and a lot of things are climbable, even metal window fences, and slight lips around the edge of buildings.

So far, everything I've seen that I could latch onto I can, as long as I am in reach of it.

I played the first night mission last night, and holy shit... I cacked myself the whole way, LITERALLY left a breadcrumb trail of ass nuggets... the "volatiles" are the scariest motherfuckers... It becomes a game of cat and mouse, you can see their view cones on the radar to try and avoid, and they respond to noise. You need to try and evade them and all the normal infected they bring as backup.

This game has just shown it's other side. you NEED the "dead island day time play" because night time is seriously stressful

Eh, just throw it in csgo and it's ready, easier than having to convert it yourself I think.

But here's the unedited png if you want to see it anyway.

I'm gonna put workshop links on the site after the deadline and things.

It wasnt that the vmt/vtf files are bad, but i clicked on it expecting to see the image before choosing to DL and suddenly downloaded files that most image browsers can't view.

What's the relevance of the decal? "Aggressive afro dude"?

It would be nice to have a jpg/png of the image that must be included rather than forcing us to DL vmt/vtf files which I have to open a bloody special tool to view. #effort

So game is finally out! Managed to play some late last night and it feels good!

I like the parkour mechanics, and I like how you do want to avoid large groups of zombies, although I do feel the battle stamina system is a little too harsh. I think I could swing a wrench more than 4 times before I'm tired!

  • Advice on flat art style?

Would using ambient light help? I don't imagine shadows are overly important?

But with regards to being able to track ramp position, could you not use a more vertically aligned blue streak?

Maybe even use a large texture with the blue design in it so that it can tile on the ramp face for you.

Alternatively, look to portal. The flat colours they use in the testing labs are quite good, but use a tile in the texture which doesn't impact on the art style too much. Hey why not make a portal styled surf map? Flashes of mirrors edge style bright colours or something. I've totally hijacked the thought process here. I get carried away

hahaha, that thing. I wanted to look at my number after getting my ssd, was a little sad to see that it was removed. It could've been a decent benchmark for system requirement stuff, but it was so buried.

SSD's still don't cut it, I managed to test one of my earlier SSDs before I moved to Win8.

I think the best bet for scoring high is to have a large striped RAID setup of the fastest SSDs you can find!

Thanks, jacko! I'm trying to find the time to finish it, but custom paint jobs (even simple ones, like mine) take a tonne of time and I'm busy with work right now.

Trying to focus on easier stuff right now, like patina-style finishes since you can really quickly create a 2048x2048 pattern and apply it to multiple guns to see if they work.

No! Stop it right now! Go and finish that wipeout style!

If you can sit down and have a proper think about how the theme should work (triggers and bolts are a certain colour, the main streak of colour should have this direction, etc), an algorithm to apply the style to a gun if you will. Applying that process to each gun will be a lot easier than looking at a fresh gun and thinking "how can i make this look the same"

Indexing still is there, though, just start typing on the start menu to search.

wow, reviving this slightly late... just realised what I read. When I said indexing, I meant that rather sad excuse for a performance index that they ran. Gave a score based on lowest sub score.

I'm well aware of being able to type an app/file name on the windows screen.

What I love about the situation is that they have only barred them from Valve sponsored events, but in doing so have basically made them untouchable.

No one is going to want to team with them because if they're serious about competing, those Valve sponsored events are a target for the team.
