I'm available for four months this summer and still got on year of study to do to get my diploma while she said that they are looking for someone to hire after the internship.

So, she asked me to apply next year for my final year internship and may be get hired their.

Outcome could have been worse! I'd say that's really positive and it gives you a chance to finish your diploma. I wouldn't be bummed out at all, just focus on your course and it sounds like you could have a job!

Thanks for all the solid feedback!

I will sit down over the weekend and try to see if I change the map to maybe have 1 or 2 "big" roads and the change the rest of the map to smaller back alleys, etc.

I have one question though, Is it best if I update the OP when I have finished the next version, or should I simply post a reply with all the updates?

Again huge thanks for all the constructive feedback!

Either works. I personally prefer updating the OP as it's the first thing people will see if they're new to the thread and link back to it in a bump post, or just quote the OP in it's new form in spoiler tags

    Height variety?

I literally meant a single word, a word by itself describing the feature. Height variety would do though I suppose! *derp*

    Welcome to mapcore!

As austion says, open streets don't lend themselves well to CSGO gameplay, however you could use a road as a type of mid, and then the rest of the map plays in the built up back streets and side alleys of the area around it.

Again, reiterating what text_fish says, "verticality" as I've seen the term used before (as much as I hate it, there isn't a single word I can think of with the same meaning) is very important.

Regarding scale, looking at the van you have near the southern bombsite, those vans can hide maybe 4-5 player models shoulder to shoulder and is taller than the player as well. That is very open, and will lead to a heavy sniper biased map. I would be interested to see timings to bombsites and rotations, something you should try to include in the planning as no-one wants to take 30 seconds to rotate to the other bombsite leaving 15 seconds to play with including 5-10s for defusing.

With ongoing development it might be easier to revert some of the map to "greybox". It allows you to be more flexible with final theme and is easier to make changes!

    Good luck

I don't like the death/spawn system in this game...

I was getting completely boned by this guy trolling me (started off by shooting my car within an inch of it's life and then driving around behind me making dribbling / zoidberg noises) who i eventually tried to kill, but seemed to do no damage to him... he then proceeded to hunt me down and i accidentally entered into a DM with him. Again, could do no damage and he rolled over me. I managed to kill him once after we had a standoff for a few moments, took cover in a tattoo store but he somehow ran in with a knife and killed me with that.

My only escape after 12 consecutive deaths was passive mode which I felt forced to use, as I would spawn within eyesight of this complete tool bag who would then kill me again.

And ofc, another douchebag planted mines all outside a Los Santos Customs, and blew me up twice, from about 3 blocks away... That part is annoying, but bearable. Not being able to escape what is essentially bullying is awful. I would've switched sessions if it wasn't going to take 15minutes

Making a public thread would be the exact opposite of NOT showing it off. Sorry I thought this was an open discussion, I guess I'm undeserving for having an argumented opinion. I don't see this going anywhere so I'll refrain from any more comments.

OK, let me rewrite my statement as I can see how some of it may have come across, but don't be a martyr. You aren't being snubbed for having an opposing opinion, it's a discussion. Nowhere in my post did I say you were wrong.

Playtests were becoming increasingly low quality due to maps lacking a correct sense of scale, missing radars, far too many routes, easily abusable angles, etc.

    Quote from Proposed Solution

Create a review system that makes sure maps meet a minimum standard regarding spawns/radar/buyzones/bombsites, as well as having a chance to suggest changes that may not have been clear to the original mapper before the map is tested which would have otherwise resulted in a poor experience.

I'm going to use borgking's carrier as an example: The first playtest was brutal, it was a complete lockout for Ts who couldn't take a step without being shot at from under a plane. This map could have very easily been improved before the test by removing/hiding the gaps under the planes. I can't comment on whether or not borgking was aware of it at the time and thought it would make an interesting feature or not, but I know the plane issue has since been improved.

Regarding keeping the map out of the public eye, there is an option to submit a portfolio. That could be a private imgur album of screenshots, or it could be your website portfolio showing previous level design work and a working knowledge of level design so we may trust your ability more.

The aim isn't to stop people from testing their map, the purpose is to still give feedback. Sometimes you don't need to play the map 5v5 / 10v10 to know how broken something is. It could literally be something as simple as "make sure the spawns face the right way then your map will be ok to be playtested" or "it's not a good idea to have CT and T looking at each other when they spawn into the map" and then you make the change and resubmit.

Coming back to my earlier point of "doing it your way". Some people don't listen to feedback, that's up to them, but we aren't going to test their map doesn't meet the basic criteria. Most maps won't be affected, and those that are will most likely be minor adjustments.

TL;DR: If this does cause problems then it will probably be reversed.

so the thread doesn't make sence for both checking the map's quality and gathering the information about the map.

I believe you'll find the thread is a form of vetting, similar to the job of MaanMan. A good thread with solid documentation of the map can show dedication to it's creation, and can save time running around the map to see if it's broken. A lot of people create maps, have poorly maintained threads and do not respond to map critique.

The playtest is a public forum to come and show your map, receive feedback, give feedback and be involved in a community.

If you want to show it off, and do it your way, then you can do it somewhere else, because ignoring the feedback is a waste of a maptest slot that could have been used by someone more deserving.

The way I see it, that this is a good way of ensuring any map that's tested meets the minimum requirements to be played, subject to evaluation.

haha, yeah I saw. Still lacking imo. Yeah, it's good to have another source for nades, but the closest thing to mine was the use of a subreddit as backup.

They rely on the really messy UI of the lines with the start/target for each type of nade (not mobile friendly), and it's not the best looking website either.

I still think mine will be a contender

An SSD won't help since it appears to be the actual connecting to other players/sessions which is taking so long. The actual loading is pretty fast normally.

I realise the connections to other players/sessions won't be aided by the SSD, but I still have a pretty long initial load into singleplayer from desktop or switching to solo from online as well.

Glad to see they finally updated the iFruit app as well, now to mod my cars from my phone

the I/O connections? that's an H81 chipset board, that's like... the lowliest budget of all low budgets for the 1150 socket.

But you've gone for the budget business chipset. Seems a shame to dress that beautiful, unlocked devil's canyon i5 in rags

Either way, have fun with the new power under the hood

my install is on my hybrid hdd. it's not too bad- I think my processor is a bottleneck on my system in general - i5 750 (5 years old...) so I've just bought a new one.

to stick in an old motherboard? is the socket type going to be ok?

I've also encountered a few problems where my game is still running, but input isn't registered.

For example, I just drove my car into my newly (and first) purchased building. Screen faded to black and when it returned I was standing next to my car unable to move. I walked off and left it for a bit, but came back to someone shooting me in the back, so I was in the game, I just couldn't play it...

It's happened a few times entering/leaving missions and just generally being stuck in buildings.

70% of my time on GTA has been waiting, and I just don't have space on my SSD for it ;(

After BF4 and the dumb idea of Hardline I have little confidence in Dice at the moment. But this isn't BF - so I'm holding out a little hope this won't be a disaster.

Are you sure it isn't / won't be BF? They've hammered that IP, now time to make the same games just under a new name that a lot of people hold dear? Call me a cynic, as good as the leaks look, I'm not going to be impressed until I've seen a LOT more.

I'm calling it now, this game will be "Battlefield: Planetside (Star Wars Edition)"

Late night games are usually shit for a number of reasons. We were all tired and weren't playing our best. I felt bad for these guys, it was the first time I've come across a legitimate DMG/MGE lobby. Normally they'd all be GE/hacking and at a DMG level.
