Thought we cleared this issue a long time ago :)

Different Source games have different uses of clip brushes (either by design or simply an unattended bug...because, Valve :-D)

In the case of CSGO, "clip" and "player clip" are exactly the same (refer to my post in this thread on page 1, link)

FMPONE: player clip and clip brushes will BOTH block the C4

hamilton5: As we discussed 9 months ago in this thread, use clip brushes in CSGO to avoid having to manually delete nav meshes from the non-playable areas of the map. nav meshes simply ignore player clips and extend to outside the playable areas, which will lead to chaotic deathmatch spawns and bots trying to furiously jump on map borders if left as is. Clips on the other hand will prevent the nav meshes from extending beyond them which will make your life easier and keep the DM spawns neat (unless you like to spend 2-3 hrs deleting nav meshes then please use player clips :D)

    In summary (for CSGO):

    • Player clip and clip BOTH block C4
    • Player clip and clip BOTH allow you to throw your weapons through
    • Player clip and clip BOTH allow grenades, flashes, smokes, etc to go through
    • Player clip and clip BOTH prevent players and bots from going through
    • Player clip and clip BOTH allow bullets to go through
    • Player clip lets the nav mesh extend to non-playable areas in the map (which is a hassle to clean up later), while clip prevents the nav mesh from extending outside the playable area

Raidix compiled a nice chart earlier in this thread that you can refer to also.

Hope this helps and clears things out.

Ok, you drive a hard bargain but I will play them this weekend! Opposing force was the first computer game I bought myself, from Toys'R'Us no less! xD

    :D

When I'm working on certain sections in the map, I get nostalgic and suddenly feel the urge to replay some sections in HL and OpFor, "strictly" for "inspiration" purposes :P

Might want to flag an admin like @Thrik for this. Files may have been lost in the forum software update.

Jack is correct in that the graphical site update broke all images in threads/articles; we're talking here about locally hosted images on mapcore (uploaded here, not linked from a 3rd party site). Images display now a URL that leads to 404 page.

However, images are not lost physically; they are still here on mapcore but the links/thumbnails to them in threads are broken as a result of the update.

I found about this 2 weeks ago when I wanted to resume my project de_forlorn after a 1.5 years of hiatus. I was surprised to see all my images/thumbnails replaced with a URL that leads to a 404. I was about to get pissed off :), but I decided to check my profile first, the attachments section.

Funny enough, all the images were still there, so it was a matter of going back to my thread and re-editing the images links and they appeared again.

If Thrik can work out a global solution for old threads/articles to reinstate the images, it would be cool. If this is not possible, then you will have to contact the article writer and ask him to re-edit the images links.

    Cheers

How are these movies? I've read some of the Sherlock novels like the Baskervilles and I think I don't want to ever imagine the thing differently from what I came up in my youth

A movie will never match one's vivid imagination and how they reconstruct the characters and chain of events in their mind :)

With that said, these movies are quite faithful to the novels and vision of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; there is no action superhero extravaganza (like the recent Guy Ritchie/Robert Downey, Jr version), it's more brain work and charismatic character of Holmes. The plot can get slow sometimes but it doesn't detract from the overall movie flow.

In my opinion, Jeremy Brett (Holmes) and Edward Hardwicke (Watson) are probably the best actors who embodied the vision of Doyle from the novels. Before these 2 movies in 87 and 88, there was a TV series with Brett-Hardwicke in the mid 80s called "The adventures of Sherlock Holmes" which I used to eagerly anticipate every episode :)

    Default textures?

The map will be comprised of around 50% custom textures and 50% stock. I have already finished creating around 70% of the custom textures.

As for this particular screenshot, the only custom textures are the roof, door and windows. Others are mostly stone/rock from cbble and monastery.

    Quote from Tensei

They are default. Cobblestone textures mostly. Roof has custom one maybe.

    Good guess :)

@will2k people from Britanny may feel a bit angry if you compare them to those from Normandy

Anyway it looks good, but don't mimic the width of narrow streets, these are claustrophobic

    Parole de breton!

    Salut Hugo :)

I said in my previous post that the houses architecture between the 2 regions is "somehow" similar.

The action in DOD:S takes place in Normandie among other places, and Normandie is right next to Bretagne...:) hence the somehow similar architectural style

I never compared people (or traditions) ;) (you probably meant it as a joke)

    Action Quake 2...holy crap...that's a name I haven't heard in ages :o

I believe Gooseman used to work on it before starting CS in 99

Good luck with the remake, I'll be sure to drop by steam greenlight and give you a thumbs up.

Vous êtes Breton? Nice to know :). Paysage charmant et architecture médievale éblouissante; un coup de coeur instantanné pour cette région :)

anyways, the latest addition is the heat hotel landmark, similar to the bell tower in inferno it can be seen from most key areas in the map, and will hopefully help with navigation

Love the sense of scale in the hotel shot; well done P. :)

Les évènements de cette carte se déroulent dans un petit village Breton au nord de la France et puisque...Ooops, excuse my French :D

So yeah, as I was saying :-D, the map is based on old villages in the region of Bretagne (mainly Locronan and Saint-Suliac among others)

Yes it is slower than usual.

The notification system is still broken/bugged it seems (at least for me, someone else could confirm?)

I reported this issue in this very thread back in July (https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/topic/18784-wh…&comment=400558) but it still not fixed. I have the notifications set to "email" also but I'm never receiving any emails when someone posts in a thread of mine, quotes/mentions me or posts in my profile :|
