    Hello, Team Abyss is looking for experienced mappers for our current project: Portal 2: Abyss on Source Engine. Project's page: http://www.moddb.com/mods/portal-2-abyss

    Quick notice! This is an unpaid job. We are looking for people who can generously help the team from their Free time. The project run on a 0$ budget, therefore it is not possible to pay for any sort of work.

    [The project] Portal 2: Abyss is a fan modification of the game Portal 2, by valve. We aim to create a completely new story based on the Portal Universe which focus on a different view of the Aperture Science Laboratories. It is a more Serious/Mature take of the Story of the Aperture Lab taking part in the Multiverse.

    [The Job] The mappers will create the maps from scratch. Artworks, Descriptions and Plans will be shared in order to facilitate the task. The mapping will occur in 3 stages.

    1. Before starting a new map, we will discuss as a group every details regarding it and make quick sketches.
    2. To reduce the chance of crashes, the maps will be created in modules. It also make it possible to work on two different parts of a map at the same time.
    3. The Modules are finalized and reviewed by the team before being assembled as the final map.

    [Requirement/Qualification] Please, Do no submit your candidature if the following criteria do not describe you well.

    • Have an extensive knowledge of Hammer editor.
    • Own Portal 2 on Steam. (Must be installed and ready to play)
    • Have a few hours of free time to dedicate on the project
    • Can work as a volunteer. (no possible payment)

    (Optional Bellow)

    • Can model and import to Source Engine.
    • Proper image editing skills (creating logos, textures, etc)

    [Benefits] Since this is an unpaid job, here's a small list of benefits which are worth your attention.

    Hi, I am Francis Racicot, aka Pac0master, the lead developer of a fan base mod known as: Portal 2: Abyss. We are Team Abyss, and we are looking for talented mappers that are used with Source Engine by Valve.

    However, this project have no budget what so ever, it will be impossible to pay for any work. We are looking for generous people who wants to contribute to the modding community and expand their portfolio.

    Here is the World Trace Center I tried to make on Hammer for Gmod but I reached the Brushes limit so It couldn't be done ( need to model it all instead of using brushes )

    Hi there Mapcore, Abyss is my mod I am working on since a while now and I though it would be time to create a thread about it. I first started with the idea of a mappack then i wanted to create a full mod. Abyss is a mod based on exploration and small puzzle with my own design of the Aperture Science Laboratories. I wanted to create something new.My goal was first to recreate a new looking Aperture Science Labs with more realism, There wont be any miles long open area in the bts scene. The story is about a man who is trying to escape the combines, they traped you on a hill and you had an accident attempting to escape and fell out.you wake up with a bad headache confused by the event and your only though is fight for your life. By exploring the area you happen to find a strange facility but it is your only way out. It was not a good idea. In portal 2 : Abyss you will have to make some choice that will change your story. Not major choice but enough to keep you busy and give a new experience on a new game.For instance you could end the game by falling to your death or being trapped in a deadly room. I have planned to make the Story in Six Chapter, 1: Discovery - you discover the facility and hide in it so you can survive2: The Abyss in this chapter you will learn more about the story of the facility while exploring part of it without any real goal.3: Uncharted - in this chapter you had the "chance" to visit an area that not much people have seen.4: Companion - in this chapter you have a companion from the last chapter following you and helping you through your adventure.5: Wake up - something went terribly wrong, you will have to face difficult choices6: The final - this is the final of the mod, There is no exact number of maps but it should be around 20 when the mod is finished. I still considerate myself as a beginner in Source Engine / Hammer Editor / Modding etc the mod may take a very long time to complete but I will Give news as long as I can.
