    ?

Care to elaborate to a fellow noob?

source uses vertex lighting, so you need vertices that can receive lighting information and my geometry had literally none, only a flat surface was exposed to lighting and well, it hardly received any.

at least that's how I understand it, maybe someone more experienced can enlighten us.

Posting this here hoping someone can help me out

I've modelled the warehouse construction and this is what it looks in-game..

notice some parts are very dark for some reason.

    what I've tried so far:

split up the model into different parts - didn't help

cut out parts of the mesh that were intersecting some brushes - didn't help

tried moving around light origin - there was a little difference, but it was still very dark

different map compile options(static prop polys, static prop lighting) - basically I have no idea what I'm doing, it ended up being super bright.. not cool

tried to mess around with static mesh properties, disabling shadows, vertex lighting, no difference

    pls halp!

Here are the files for tonight's playtest of de_88mm.

If anyone has a spare moment, would they be kind enough to confirm that the radar's working? I'm 99% sure it is, but both Vide and PackRat seem to have some damnable obsession with screwing up the path to the overviews folder, so it'd be good to know in advance if I need to fix that before the playtest.

just backup and remove the radar files from your resources/overview folder and see if your map loads it for you

awesome! will give it a try again the next time I have to compile a map.

but I can already tell it's better than the default command line compile since this doesn't lag my pc.

Looks like you need to have an active account(subscribed) to be able to access github and download UT4

Don't you need the latest ue4 version to be able to run UT4 ? that would mean people who bought it earlier would have to resubscribe(not a big deal, but still)

I'm gonna have to say left 4 dead, it's probably the best multiplayer game I've ever played seriously, good times.. to bad they murdered it with the release of l4d2.

and most recently it's dark souls, I can rarely get absorbed so much in a game these days.. need more games filled with mystery and weird shit.

Since tools are apparently posted here, I might as well post mine, Compile Pal.

It's a wrapper for the source map compiling tools that provides easy configuration and better UI.

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/zMTThlY.png]

It's got things like batch compile support, basic automatic file packing (for prototyping) and progress display on the taskbar:

    Downloads are maintained here:

That looks very cool but it does literally nothing when I run it

I guess the saddest thing from all this is that I no longer have the motivation to work on levels in my spare time and I often question whether there is much of a future for me in the industry.

    *shrug*

that sounds like you're burning out, you should take a break and relax dude.

I just played overgrown and it's fucking awesome, you should keep doing what you do, there definitely is a future for you in the industry.

I'd love to get a playtest for cp_altro, but those times are all impossible for me to be on during since I live in Australialand.

Looking at the time converter, this seems to be the most appropriate.

    http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?qm=1&lid=8,0,…-8-23&sln=14-15

There's no way I could be on at the same time as Americans though, so maybe a playtest could be run without me altogether?

Well that sucks, but I'm ok with an earlier playtest if it falls on weekend.

in any case I can record a demo for you if you want or you can just get up at 5 am
