May have just killed off the project I have spent the last 6 months working on that I was hoping to turn into my dream job. :( :( In other news, going to the gym tonight with my wife to get back in shape.

Edit: Gym was a success. Going back again tomorrow (today is a rest day while we get reacquainted).

Picked up Destiny: The Collection this week to play with a friend who has been playing the past couple of years. It's an enjoyable experience but I am not 100% sold on it (of course, I am only level 21). I am playing on the PS4 - and the controls feel too tight on the horizontal look (left-right) compared to the other FPS's I am playing right now (Titanfall 2 and Doom). This creates a problem for me where I expect to turn faster than I can. Different games being different, I feel like this is something that just simply misses the mark (especially when my vertical sensitivity is perfectly fine at higher sensitivities). Maybe once I do a raid it will be different.

@grapen: I havn't done foliage, so take this with a grain of salt. But my opinion is that by creating hedges the way you have done, it still looks very unnatural because the sporadic foliage that does stick out is still too uniform in both shape and size. I think you could probably achieve a better outcome using multiple planes with transparency settings and rotating them to more-or-less fit your desired shape (but not perfectly to suggest it was cut by hand without perfect measurement). You could still use an interior plane to prevent transparency from going all the way through. The other thing I think may be inhibiting your hedge is the size of the leaves themselves. For a hedge, those are some huge leaves I think. Just my $ 0.02 on this one. Maybe yours will look better when paired with other hedges and I'm just full of it.

Ok, I can finally read and participate in this thread as I just saw it. I thought the story was good; well grounded in the Star Wars universe while not being overt about space wizards. Nit picking follows:

Spoiler Really, my biggest issues were with some of the CG. I couldnt shake the feeling that had they been given 6 more months it could have reached perfection. Grand Moff Tarkin was a little too thin in the cheeks and the cheek bones too pronounced I thought whereas Leia had too much weight in the cheeks. Also... her teeth. I noticed consistent lighting errors on GMT's face too. I enjoyed all of the little easter eggs, poor poor Red 5, and FINALLY some example of tactics in battleship to battleship warfare in the Star Wars universe!

Vader at the end? OMG that was some badass space wizard shit. Like, THAT is why he was so feared and should have been. I'm playing Doom right now and I want to rip through demons like he ripped through those rebels! Daaaaaammmn!!

All in all a great Star Wars experience and fit in very well with the context.

    Thank you @Lkarlsson!

I assume when you say island by the link gun, you mean where the redeamer is placed. You have to jump out of the windowed area nearest it from the upper floor (there is an elevator next to this on the inside).

The narrow trench will be on a timed lava fill actually. My intent is to make the level a little dynamic by having the large pots moving into and out of the hot magma area (to collect magma), then deposits them into the collector piece that the stinger sits on top of (making this a timing grab to avoid the magma), and then after 3-6 "fills" the collector will release the magma downwards onto the jump boots and send the magma back into its original connector point. At least... that's my hope. Whether this is good for gameplay is, of course, another issue altogether.

As for the area with the beams, I have an idea drawn up on how to make that better and leading into one of the other areas. My thought on that was it would be a drainage point for the fire suppression system inside of this building, and lead to the adjacent lower-level room to increase entry/exit opportunities there as it can get tight if 3 or more players are there. Lot's of assets to create including 6-axis robotic arms, welders, beams, suppression systems, floors, walls, lights, all that good stuff.

I'm glad you like it and liked the pacing!

    Hey gang,

This dropped in the news today: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-…of-pay-troubles.

A statement reveals the company plans to "refocus on its core strengths" by concentrating on development in its Frankfurt headquarters and Kiev studio. All others branches - including studios in Budapest, Sofia, Seoul, Shanghai and Istanbul - "will not remain within Crytek".

If you want to view the live Marmoset here is the link.

Took a look at this (and gave you an artstation follow). Depending on where you place this, check out the armpit area. Looks like the baking or a texture didn't go very well there, but it can be fixed easily I think. Also, are the legs supposed to be that block like from the elbow/knee joints down towards the feet? I'm certain your reference makes it appear that way - I would suggest you stylize those areas (increase the length of the back feet some, decrease the length of the feet on the front legs, and also pinch the underarm of the front legs some so that it appears to be sculpted fur rather than a block).

Titanfall 2: The single player campaign was rife with comedy (BT) and had one of the best seamless transitions ever in video games between timelines (if you have played this level, you know what I mean). Furthermore, the variety of encounters, ranging from titans to a soldier with a completely disabled titan, and near death experience were awesome. Add onto this a compelling multiplayer that can be both fast paced and slow - with weapons relatively well balanced (hello silenced automatic pistol and grappling hook of doom!) and high-flying navigation that addresses both horizontal and vertical level design types. This was my personal favorite game of the year.

@Lkarlsson - I can work on that. I have not worked on this level in quite a while due to life events. I'm glad you brought my attention back to it! It's still just a greybox at the moment, but I will do a build and upload here. I have a list of assets I was going to create for this as well - now that I have some improved skills I think I can tackle this confidently.

@Lkarlsson: Here you go for an new baked copy. I believe this was the last version I worked on.

@(HP): Well with my wife it's that a lot of sci-fi is just too strange from what she knows everyday (she's an engineer). Westworld is fairly well grounded in how it approaches its universe, and so in that regard it is much easier for her to relate to it I think. That and the women are not all scantily clad or under-developed (if anything, the women seem to be the most developed characters aside from the three male leads).

My wife and I binge watched this 2 weeks ago and then caught the remaining episodes as they came out. Fan-freagin-tastic of a show! Normally, my wife does not like the sci-fi genre. So for her to like it (and us argue for hours about where the show is headed) is amazing. Plus, Ramin Djawadi is REALLY coming on strong as a composer and I enjoy his themes.

This is the high poly sculpt. I am not certain how I feel about it. Given this was my first time doing a sculpt in zBrush, I don't think it turned out bad. But - I don't know that it turned out well either.
